New Twist- "Invalid Save File"

Yesterday I bought and downloaded the Entrenchment expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire.  I also updated to the 1.15.048 version.  Once everything was downloaded, installed and what not, just about everything seemed to be working. I played for several hours before saving and going to bed.

Everything EXCEPT save games was working.  I could not load the game I started and played after updating.  I am unable to load any saved game now.

When I attempt to load a game, I get into the screen that lists all the saved games under either "single player saves" or "single player auto saves" and every single save is listed as an "Invalid Save File."

I am aware that saves from before a patch or update will be turned invalid when you patch.

However, the game is treating EVERY save file as invalid, including ones that are brand new, the ones created AFTER the updates.  Anyone else seen this? Tell me how this makes sense, or what I should do to fix it...

I have seen what you are talking about, it has happen to me as well. i'm trying to find out if it is possible to do some kinda save that will not make the save files invalid. I will let you know if i find something.

this is a common problem, i think everyone who updates ends up with their previou saves being invalid.

Its a pain in the back side and i think just a rare show of lazyness on the part of the devs, plenty of other games make major changes regularly but their saves remain intact after update :@

I am having a problem with the "Invalid Save File" error when I try to load a game I saved *after* upgrading Sins and installing Entrenchment.  As the OP said, I can understand older saves not working but as it stands, I cannot save new Sins games.  Please help.

Did anyone ever get a resolution to this?  I just installed Entrenchment and am also having this issue.

I had the invalid save file message too; all my saved games, and autosaves.  I updated my graphics drivers, and restarted the computer.  Afterwards all the save files were apparently restored.  Don't ask me how that worked, my computer does the strangest things somedays...

It might be something worth trying though.

Issue *resolved* for me.  Cause: User error.

Resolution:  After installing Entrenchment I continued to use the original shortcut for Sins expecting it to point to an updated .exe file.  This shortcut still points to the original Sins.  Once the application launches, there's a button on the main menu (where you can launch a new game, etc) that reads "Play Entrenchment".  After clicking this, the game reloads and I'm in the Entrenchment version of Sins.  Now I can load my save file.

May not fix everyone but make sure you're actually in Entrenchment when you're trying to load a save file.
