What is the Advent Trinity?

(Or i've played for a while now, but still havent a clue when someone says it)

:)  Hi,

Just trying to figure out the combat groupings for the Advent mostly, but would be nice to know about the ship combinations that the other races use to effect as well.  :)

Thank you, from a solo singleplayer mode player who is getting the courage up to jump in and lose a few mp games as well.  :)

Can't remember the exact names of all the abilities, but you need a Rapture, Radiance and Mothership. You use Rapture's retaliation on the Radiance as it uses amnosity, while the Mothership uses its damage spread ability on the ships that will be attacking the Radiance. Thus, enemies are forced to attack Radiance which causes them to get a taste of their own medicine... twice.

:)  Haha, light ray of death!!!  oh my!!!  :)

I had thought it was the mothership and the guardian, with the shield restore and the shield projection, but i didnt know what the third ship was.

But your's is completely different, the radiance, the rapture and the mothership and the taunt, the retaliation and the spreadweapon damage!!   That is AWESOME !!  Thank you!

Maybe i wont lose as many games now, if i can figure out how to run those three in packs,  :)

Are there any combinations of ships for the other races as well?

Yes, it is awesome. However, besides the fact that it takes three cap ships to pull off, it can also be hard to macro it and keep a fleet running at the same time. So some practical advice in setting it up.

1. First, make sure you're going to commit to it. You've got to prepare ahead of time to get three cap ships out fairly fast as if I was limited to two, I'd much rather have just mothership and carrier. Basically, make sure the map is big enough to give yourself some breathing room if you want to try to get this out realitively early in the game.

2. Build the mothership first, as you'll probably want colonize and shield restore on it first, thus it will need to be at lvl 3 before you get the other two out. Not to hard as it will take care of the militias, and its a standard Advent move anyway. I build radiance next because its nice to have at lvl 2 for dentonate antimatter, which will really screw over a enemy force with a single cap it it. Rapture goes last as you only want retaliation on it, and actually its ability that lowers rate of fire makes this strategy less effective, so you don't have many reasons to lvl it up compared to the other two.

3. Watch your antimatter. Unless your finding in range of an antimatter recharge station, or you have a lot of LFs to fill in the gap, your mothership will be hard pressed using spread damage and shield restore. I usually take shield restore off auto for this, even if it weakens the gaurdians. Radiance can occasionally run out if it has to us detonate antimatter or the "light ray of death" to often, but by the time you have the latter you'll probably get its ability to convert damage to antimatter anyways. Only let the rapture autocast the steal frigate ability and manually use retaliation. Never use its rate of fire decrease ability unless you're retreating.

4. Try to have your frigates take out carriers (obviously) and LRMs first, as they usually stay out of the holy trinity's range. HCs, LFs, Flac, and most capitals are the most affected by it.

As to combos with other races... they're really not any, as the advent are addicted to stat buffs and group effects, and the rest aren't. However, I've heard the Vasari can chain damage with explosive nanites combined with any ability that has an area of affect, so maybe that counts. TEC are too direct, all of their abilities are either passive, improve the caps stats temporarily (Fineist hour), or direct damage or assistance (magnetize). The best they have is Ion bolt with gauss rail gun...

Hey while were at it..anyone know a nice counter to a Guardian + carrier (drone host) fleet player who just spams repulsion field while letting the strikes go free!

I got a counter under vasari!

But anyone have a counter for tec players???

Don't the TEC LFs have an ability that disables frigate antimatter abilities? Otherwise I guess I'll try to find one, I've been meaning to play TEC more anyways.

:)  Very very cool!!   Its a lot of advice, but i appreciate the detail, because to be honest a lot of tactics are beyond me, i play more by intuition, which of course means i mostly make wrong decisions compared to the more strategic ai. Anyway, i dont mind losing so much, well, not very much, but its nice to learn how to "see" the field. That will take me a while i think. But i appreciate the helpful push in the right direction. I used to play chess a few years ago, but i played that like i play Sins, which is to say, not very well, but i enjoyed it all the same. Me and some friends played alot, i met them in the school library playing during lunch, after that i saved my money and hung out and watched and later played games. It was a wonderful time, and i still have fond memories. But of course often i wish i could sit down and really you know, like learn the game. Sins is like that too. I make my little mini-mods and so the game is usually stacked in my favor even if not by much, but im trying to do that less, because well... its not fun winning when it doesnt mean anything, and losing is even fun if i learn something.

Learning how to play tactics, i think that is what it is called, would be a fine thing.  :)

Thanks very much for the help and the nice explanation, it was very nice and instructive, now just to try it, and then come back and read it again and try it again, haha, wash, rinse, repeat, wash...  :)  But i guess that is how it is done.  :)

Thank you again and take care,

-Teal
