quick question with about files

Hey guys, sorry if this is answered. Just call me dumb.  I htink I did this wrong, so wanted to ask for a little help.

Just got  Entrenchment yesterday, and was checking out the mod folders and that.  I went to do a simple change.

I took the Gameplay.constants file from entrenchment and redid some stuff in it.  Threw it into the mod folder.

C:/Documents and Settings/User/Local Settings/Application Data/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods-Entrenchment v1.01

Made a folder in there and named it Test.    All thats in that folder is the gameplay.constants file.   When I load up Entrenchment I see the name Test in there, but when I turn it on, the changes didn't work.

I did however get them to work by replaceing the gameplay.constants in the main Entrenchment folder. But I don't want to have to do that to get it to work.

 What am I doing wrong?

I've read about making changes to the entity.manifest file, but the gamplay file isn't a entity.

Also just a quick thing. It seems to get the entity files to work (like if I wanted to change a cap ship to have 1000000 hp) I just make the changes to it, make sure that this file is listed in the entity.manifest throw the file into the new test folder and there you have it.

Thanks for any help guys. And sorry if this is already out there. :/

Have you tried adding gameplay.constants to the manifest file? It's not an entity, but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't mind.

Yeah I gave that a try. After putting it in there, it would crash then game. Unless I added it wrong.

Hmm. Still working on it.

Interesting. Try sending an email to [email protected]

With the 1.0 Entrenchment release there was a bug that made mods not work (it wouldn't accept changes), so they hotfixed it for 1.01, but it's possible that they didn't consider files with non .entity extensions. Either way, they'll either say "oops" or tell you how to do it :P

Thank you for taking the time to help me out.  I am so sorry for wasting it tho.  I found out my problem.  Man oh man am I dumb.   Should I even say what I "DIDN'T"  Do?   HAHAHA

Why didn't my gameplay file not work?   Ok I'll tell ya.   (Please don't pick on me too much for this all :)

Inside the Test folder.  (the mod folder itself)  Might help if I had put the file into a Gameinfo folder!!!!!!!!!! o.O

I had it going just into the test folder itself.  I know I know.  I don't know why I forgot all about this one.  I've only been modding Sins sense it came out.   So once again, please don't pick on me too much for this one.

hehe

:edit:  Just a quick note.   You put the entity.manifest inside the main mod folder only. Inside the entity.manifest file itself. You add the changed files.

I still cannot believe I messed that one up. lol

Haha :) Don't worry about it. Everyone's allowed a 'doh' moment once in a while.
