DONT SURRENDER! just quit.

Everyone please try to spread this message to noobs, newbs and newcomers to not surrender when they want to leave prematurely* like a pussy...

It messes up an entire team when someone surrenders prematurely. Its not honrable , because deciding to leave in the first place makes you a pussy.

But atleast if you want to be a pussy , just quit so that the AI takes over and atleast gives your team a fighting chance.

* does not include leaving because its already "gg" for the entire team.

Sins of a Solar Empire takes a long time to complete some (or most) games, so actually 99% of the time, someone who leaves too early isn't a pussy, they're just going to get some. (Only thing I can think of that gets me away from sins.)

Seriously though, good point, the AI is by no means incompetent in Sins, and can hold its own if you leave it in a decent enough situation.  And if nothing else, it's a distraction.

P5yy is complaining about a genuine quitter.

I was in that game too and was causing the quitter to surrender. t was my homeworld - roid - volcanic - roid - enemy homeworld. I met that quitter on the volcanic very few minutes into the game, killed his cap and the next second he surrendered.

Well I think what new players need to be educated on is when to quit and when to surrender. I played a 2v2v2 the otherday on a Medium large. 3 players quit, one disconnected, and then I was left having to bulldoze through 3 Ai to get to the last remaining opponent on the other side of the map! I ended up just sending my fleet trhough and capturing a roid on the otherside to launch attacks from, but I pissed off all the Ais in the process.

Personally I'd rather players surrender than quit, but I understand instances where quitting would be preferred. I just hate seeing people whose wins and losses don't add up to even half the games played. I generally don't play with those kinds of people.

Rather than spread the quitting message perhaps you should spread the fact that players should stay in the game until they truly have nothing left and no chance at survival, and that LOSING YOR CAP early game does not mean game over. I've played several games AND WON THEM where my cap was taken out early. The above mentioned 2v2v2 was one of them.

My wins/losses dont add up to 1/2 my played games, and i've never, I repeat NEVER, quit prematurely, or quiti when i should surrender. I have over 100 wins and about 38 losses. People sometimes accuse me of being a quitter for that reason, but they don't understand a lot of things.

1. Saving and quitting to finish later is the same as a quit

2. A lot of games minidump, especially back in 1.02-1.05

3. People would drop from huge games. 5v5, there seems always to be one that drops. Remaking a game quickly 3-4 times has been done a couple times.

Yea I agree completely.

So many things can happen to give you quit stats. Forexample , you zoom out only to find theres 3 stars. "multi?" , "aaah shit!" , "re!!"

Also , I dont believe in Stats . I only believe in reputation of the players name

Usually when I quit I have no choice,  my PC or the program decides that fate for me.  Was playing a great 3vs3 when my PC just went blank.  However I think that it just quits and the AI takes over in that case.

I do agree with you. Stuff happens like disconnects, minidumps and drops. I personally have record that has several. And you've obviously been playing for awhile when minidumps were common. But for newer players.. eh, I just feel that its less excusable. Perhaps I wasn't clear on my point though, its this. Surrender when you've truly been beaten.

Maybe it boils down to this then. If you're playing with teams and must leave, quit. If you're playing a FFA and you've been bested, Surrender.

There are instances in which surrendering is the right thing to do. I just dislike people who quit as a means to avoid admition of defeat (in terms of stats).

I also agree with you. Stats mean little in this game, which is why losses are also OK to have. Really though, quitters suck. One should stay with a team until the team is defeated, not just the player. So long as you have the means to build some ships, or collect some resources, or even deal a little damage or cause distraction, you are still important to your allies.

And another idiot noob.

This time nebstar

Surrenders with 3 intact planets including a homeworld thats producing 15 credits per tick.

Why?

luckily the enemy decided to finish off his planets rather then just ignore him and treat the game like a 3v4
