Multi-Star System Jumping

Does anyone know how multi-star system jumping works? Once you have it researched, can you only jump from one star system to another via the sun? Or can you use the wormholes to go from star system to another? Or is that you can only jump from one wormhole to another within the same star system?

Star jumps are always from star to any other star. Linked wormholes *can* be in different star systems, but are not always. When they are in different ones, you can of course instantly go from one system to another.

Thanks!

So worm holes will only be linked between the two, correct? meaning, that a ship cant go into one wormhole and come out on any other, right?

I assume that the only way to find out where a wormhole goes is to go through it?

Wormholes are only connected to one other wormhole, after you send a ship through, you can see a line connecting the holes when you select it. Of course, if there are only two wormholes in the map, thats a no brainer :)

Yeah, they're always paired. You only need to discover one end to be able to send a ship through to see where it comes out. With the proper research, of course!

And with respect to system jumping, its between suns only.

yes and since you can jump from any star to any star....

Thanks all for the info!

I know that you can put up to four (right?) starbases at a sun - what about wormholes?

It's one starbase per player around anything that isn't a star ;)

Random question here, kinda related. Can Vasari starbases go through wormholes?

Nope I tried it :-( That would be freekin cool though, then you could setup to have multiple starbases at either end I suppose.

One starbase (and any allies of yours can also build starbases there -- limit is per player), perhaps a minefield as well courtesy of your Ruiners.

Your starbase could also have a phase stabilizer module if you've done the research to enable defense (say, shifting a defense fleet between wormholes and star), but of course travel through phase stabilizers isn't instant, so if they're quite far away and the enemy fleet is strong enough to rapidly break local defenses you may still have problems.  Especially if it's a feint at the wormhole designed to trap your defense fleet in phase space (out of communication until it arrives at the destination) while the main force goes where your defense fleet used to be.
