When I zoom into manage my ships etc the camera will suddenly start following a ship which is mighty annoying when your trying to order your fleet around!!!  Is there somewhere I can turn this auto follow off???

That does take some getting used to, and yes, there is a way to turn it off.  You can turn it off.  It's called 'zoom to cursor' and I believe it's either in the options menu or the key binding menu.  I can't remember exactly which, but I do know it's there.

There is a shortcut on the top left (slightly left of middle anyway) of the screen next to the cinematic mode toggle.

yea, that frusterates me, too. I love that feature for planets, but for ships it gets annoying. As said, the easier way to turn it off is by clicking the mouse and video camera icon on the top toolbar.

Its on the UI in real time. For you it's probably a button that looks like a lock. Change it to look like a camera *click it* and it should "zoom to cursor" now

Actually, Zoom to Cursor is not what makes the camera follow. Zoom to cursor only does what it says, and centers the camera on your cursor when zooming. With it off, you have to actually scroll the camera with arrows/edge of screen, which is a lot more cumbersome.

Camera snapping to units is a hidden option in the camera.setting file in your user path (same place mods go, only \Setting instead of \Mods):

zoomToCursorLocksOnMovingEntities TRUE
zoomToCursorSnapsToEntities TRUE

You can change these to get the effect you like.

Annatar11 you are a star!!!

Thats exactly what I am looking for!!!  Will try it out tonight when I get home from work.

i did try turning the zoom to camera off but as Annatar11 says all that does is stop you zooming where your cursor is which is a handy tool to have.

Thank again.

Ok I must be stupid as I can't find any file called camera.setting.  Can you tell me the exact folder I need to look in under the Sins of a Solar empire folder?

EDIT:  Nevermind I found the folder :)

Thanks.

To be honest, what annoys me is that because I use window mode, when I move mouse to switch app, it would go in the direction of my mouse, but managed to turn it off :D
