strategies to kill starbases as advent?

So in the past i've ussually played as vasari. they are by far my favorite race, and this remains true in entrenchment. I've recently been trying out a game as advent, to see the changes that were made to them, and i encountered a heavily upgraded vasari starbase. I figure it would be a good chance to try out the new anti structure advent ships right? i was WRONG. my ships were wiped out extremely quickly, and i barely even dented the starbase's shield. so i'm wondering, how the heck should advent go about killing starbases (especially vasari, since they move)

advent have huge strike craft reserves...

tbh, if you read all the mentions of the adjudicator, it is described as more of a turret killer than starbase killer, though it can kill stationary starbases alright (except the meteor throwing ones).

Are we talking aboout a starbase with a fleet backing it up or just a starbase?  I tried out adjudicators and found I didn't like them.  Costly and low damage to single targets.  Though 5-10 of them could probably rip through a line of turrets in short order.  I found the best way to take on a star base was to take it on just like any other fleet.  Form up a battle ball with guardians and try to minimize losses with support ships and abilitities.  Two radiance battleships work wonders to shut down SB abilities.

At first I thought adjudicators were crap, escpecially when comapred to ogrovs. But a Played a 4v4 game the other day on Areolian sector in which our opponents had built 6 or 7 starbases at their star. One of my allies went in with 20+ adjudicators and destroyed most of them while the rest of us battel the opposing fleet at a different star. These weren't weak sbs either. My ally managed to fight off a fleet being produced by the TEC starbases AND destroyed 5 starbases before our opponents surrendered.

That gave me a little more respect for the little starfish shaped craft.

I find though that they are best used against all the tactical structures people may build as stated above. Adjudicators tear through turrets, squadron bays and regen platforms, but they can be used effectively against starbases.

If you're taking on a lone SB, I would recommend using them with a few additional ships like guardians to help defend them against SC and meteors and a couple of drone hosts to add fighter/bomber support. I mean it's either that or build a ludicrous amount of illuminators with the illusion ability, which I've noticed tends to trump everything. In the game mentioned above, one of our opponents had 150+ illums which wasted a half upgraded tec sb in seconds, then quickly doubled in size to take on my 80 enforcers and two other similarly sized allied fleets. We lost the battle but won the war.

BTW, taking on a fully upgraded Argonev with just HCs = bad idea. I found that out the hard way when I sent about 70 (non upgraded) enforcers up against one and retreated with about 13. I had only taken it down about 2/3 when I pulled out. Not trying that one again.

I HIGHLY reccommend having rididculously large amounts of strikecraft when taking on the vasari starbase. Its frontal shield deflectors will minimize the damage done by your fleet (unless its maxed or something), while strikecraft attack from all sides

Haha the star fish. Normally it is a weak craft but when someone rellys on nothing but SB for protection they are going to hurt him hard.  They need a good economy though as they are way to expensive.  I think they are good unit,  their price just needs to sagnificantly go down in order for players to actually think of them as a threat to their SB.

mmk that pretty much answers my questions everyone. thanks for the advice!

I think the answer to starbases is almost always strike craft. For that reason, Advent have a huge advantage against starbases. It's evened out by the fact that Vasari have the mobile starbase, and TEC have the ogrovs

like i said alittle earlier in a post and so did a few others in this topic.... strike craft spam.... yea its cheap in some respects but it pays off... and yea i will admitt i am a strike craft whore....  by the end of any one game i have over 300 and thats just in fleet.... not counting starbases or base defenses

though if u have the credits to burn and the fleet to support them  just simply spam the living daylights out of the starbase with the star fish.  and when i say spam i mean easily anywhere from 50-100.  just to be on the safe side.... of course that is a rediculous number i know but if u cutit in half as in half take on the star base and half work on the rest of thebase u can easily conqure a base in min no matter how many defenses.  how eer i dont recemend this course of action as it is costly.

Yep like every one said strike crafts.... lots and lots of them

Also I would say advent have the best defense by far when upgraded. The turrents increase in power with the more you build near by and once you upgrade the hangers with the shield buff you can dominate. Add a starbase with some additional SC upgrades and the meteor upgrade and your defense will hold long enough to bring your fleet in from the other side of the system.

I have found it pretty hard to fight the Vasari starbase with assault cruisers because it just eats them.  It doesn't seem economical to sacrifice so many assault cruisers....so I usually just use carrier fleets because I can win without losing ships.
