So, I bought SoaSE and Entrenchment through Impulse. I then downloaded them. All went well. Until I tried to update, anyway.

So, there's an update for SoaSE. Impulse claims it's 10kb in size. I'm like, okay. So I tell it to install. It apparently installs - but it doesn't say the game is updated. I run the game, it claims to be version 1.15 ingame. Right. So I try to install Entrenchment, but it claims the game isn't updated.

So begins the vicious cycle.

I've tried reinstalling the whole thing 3 times, manually deleting everything and then reinstalling, screaming, and setting fires. I even tried downloading the manual update given in the e-mail, but it gives me some obscure error about not being an administrator. Okay, this is the only user account on my computer and I am, of course, an administrator. To entertain the possibility something was broken, I went and created a second administrator account - but it still won't finish patching. I suspect this is also what's breaking impulse.

Okay, I did some snooping and somehow the Stardock directory in the registry was altered to not accept any changes or stuff. I changed that and the manual patch worked fine. Looks like impulse is working now as well. Downloling entrenchment and will see if that works. But I think I fixed it.

Had me scrambling for my gnomes though.
