How do I play as the Vasari???

where are my mines, my trade ports, and my refineries.

How do i play as the Vasari.  They are completely different from either of the other factions, and I have no idea where to start, especially in research.

The manual is a little vague on many points so really playing any of the factions is a little daunting at first.  There a multple wiki pages on SOASE but this one is my favorite.

You can read about the factions in more detail and also see them contrasted in various data tables.

I usually play the TEK but just played the single-player multi-star (5) game as Vasari.  I stumbled around a bit as I was not used to the ships or tech trees but I still won the game and had fun.

My favorite Vasari feature is the ability to travel between any two planets in a solar system, regardless of phase lanes!  There are 2 ways to do this.  One, research the phase stablizer (I think that's the name) technonolgy and build such a node at each planet you own; it is on the tactical menu of a planet.  But there is also a capitol ship that can do the same thing on the fly no matter where you are!  One of the fancy capitol ships can gain the ability to create a phase stabilizer node where it sits!  It lasts for about 70 seconds or until you 1st use it.  Drop a node with one of these ships at one planet.  Drop a node with one of these ships at another planet.  Select the ships you wish to transfer directly between these two planets as you normally would but now they'll make the jump directly, just as if a phase lane existed there!  It is fun, give it a try!

It is so cool to be able to instantly pop your fleet anywhere.

Also, have fun with the mega weapon.  It hits the orbital structures of an enemy planet; good for softening up a planet prior to attack!

The Vasari may become my new favorite faction!

I have a Visari question.  What is the "recall dark fleet" feature do?  I manually invoked it but did not see anything happen.  What exactly does it do in the game?

Did you look hard enough? Probably not :P What it does is that it gives you a few "free" units, at the expense of researching the tech 1st. check in the gravity well of the nodes for some pretty useless ships, its those. On the plus side, you can use this feature as many times as you want, as long as you let it recharge. Have fun!

Recall Dark Armada= One of the best abilities in the game.

This is always the first thing on my reaserch to-do list, because it has so many potential uses/strategies.

If your fast enough to research it, RDA is a great way to zerg rush larger multi system maps.

If your a turtler its a great way to clear mines. Just keep throwing them at an enemy gravity well. The ships are free and with a few nodes in a large system they can become a sizable suicide force, fast.

Researching the recall armada early can also help give you an lead in economy building and tech advancement.  Researching your way up the tech trees goes alot faster because your not devoting as many resources to building ships.  Also its always nice to have a few extra bucks for upgrading starbases before everybody else.

And there are ways to use this with other techs that make vasari even more of a galactic steam roller.

A free RDA fleet+ vasari a superweapon+ a fazed out capital (in an enemy gravity well) with the salvage ability= Total economic and military domination...
