Cloaking! I think someone had made it work..need confirmation!

Question says it all...anyone made it possible to actually CLOAK a ship? not just give it the phased out buff..I'm talking really getting it a maximum invisible? PLEASE ;) Thanks!

To my knowledge, no. Although I believe that IC had originally made the mines in Entrenchment completely invisible, but they didn't think that made for good game play and scrapped it. I also seem to remember reading back during beta 1 that they might give us the true cloaking code, kind of like how they did with fighter movement for all ships, but I haven't seen anything else about that since.

Well...I am sure....I believe the kilingon ship in the SoA2 mod has a claking ability, it kinda like a round sphere, but the thing is it invalunerable and weapons are disabled but I am sure that could be changed

Thats exactly what I was thinking! but I'm not sure....good question if so I'll have to try and take the elements from entrenchmetn and export them into sins!

No, they are just phased out. You can see them, but can't shoot them. As I said in my first post, they were originally invisible, but IC decided that made the game to micro-intensive to remove mines, so they changed it so that they were visible.

Damn..so I can't make a commando mode in which you have to infiltrate a well estavlished base with a few cloaking ships :( DAMN!

Beg IC to but the beta code back in and make it applicable to frigates and cap ships, you might just find they'll put it in their for you. You might have to wait till the next expansion, but its better than nothing. If your really lucky you might be able to get ahold of the beta entity files and be even luckier if the code still works (or at least that line).

Actually ...don't think they like me at all...

I'll find a workaround!

You could make the shield reflective so it seems to be cloaked. And just make it invulnerable and weapon disabled. Like an ablilty.

No..I know how to do that! I did it befoe with my sniper ship!

But it aint fun if the enemy SEES you move in...I want INVISIBLE! ;)

Will not work... have try it with the following ship :

I was able to make the ship almost invisible... but the team color remain ( red dots at the front ), the self illumination remain and the truster particule effect remain...

A other method is to made the mesh so small that at maximum zoon, it is not yet the size of a pixel... so, on screen, you will see nothing of the ship... remain a problem !!! The player icon remain visible!!!

If someone is able to reach a full invisibilty, i am really curious to know how they have made it !!!

give no icon to the ship and put no team color zone on the ships texture .... this way the ship would be invisible to player how ever it still need some kind of invulnerability or force mental push tha say i'm not the ship you are looking for....

Thoumsin! That ship looks damn good!!!!

Probably the nicest cloak I've seen yet :)

The most important thing for a cloak is that it is invisible to your opponent.

If YOU can see it, but they can't, then that's all fine and good.

Which, sadly, is what's not possible. :P

Though I suspect even if the devs take notice it'll be a LONG TIME before we see a change :(
