Too many Scouts !

Anyone else noticing too many scouts being made by the AI, my last game one of them had 73 scouts!? This started happening right after I downloaded "Entrenchment".     I mean if they are doing it for mine fields whatever, but that hobbles the AI. And while I'm at it mines for me are not that effective. They either go around them, or I take the next planet and now they are useless behind the lines. But I got a feeling that its the cause of the scout swarms I'm having. Not all of the AI's do it but a few in each game does. So anyone else noticing this, can It be fixed ? just wondering.

Thanks have a good one

As you already noticed, I have the same problem.

Think of mines primarily as area-denial weapons -- just like real-world minefields, which are used to cost an opponent time (either needing to go around them, or bring up engineers with demolition charges or mine rollers or the like).  By themselves, they should cause few losses.  Use them to cover areas not covered by your other defenses (such as beyond the range of your starbase's weapons), or to make long-range defenses (hangar bays, for instance) harder to approach, or for the occasional surprise (like mining your end of a wormhole).

The Vasari's gravity mines are a nasty trick.  Might be useful for shutting down somebody's attempt at retreat, if for some reason you have a Ruiner ready.

i find in my games the only AI opponenets who actually use mines are TEC... advent and vasari dont use them all that much... at least not as much as during the entrenchment beta testing...

Can't comment on beta stuff, but oddly enough, I find that TEC uses mines less than Advent or Vasari...  Hmm >_>

Glad to know I am not crazy! After my encounter with 31 Advent Seeker Vessel, I was wondering if I might have played just a bit too much Sins. Good to know its not me. But DAMN!!!, 73 scouts, thats just priceless.

Do you have screenshots of this?

Mines: The AI does not use mines that often, I mostly see SMALL Vasari/TEC minefields and even less Advent.

If you are using a lot of mines it could be a threat prioritizing issue. the ai sees thousands of something so it builds more of the counter to it but i am not a programmer so i dont know if that is even how it works. it does bring me to a small gripe of my own though. Mines make a planet's defences look a lot stronger than they are since 10 mines makes the same amount of ticks on the structures area (when zoomed out) as 10 hangers.

true... but thats why we have scouts... so we can see whats really there.... sure, it means more micro, but you are about to go attack said planet anyway so you should be paying attention... on the other hand, talking about your own defenses... you should know what planets have what defenses =)

honestly, though, mines should be scaled down in that structure ticks thingo, enough to let you know how many you have, but.... if you have 150 mines, then...

In my games, the TEC always have the mine spam. DEATH TO THE UNBELIEVERS!!!
