um.... i still didnt quite get that... from what i understand hes asking:
1a) who are the pirates,
1b) should we give pirates more power, maybe some capital ships and maybe some more planets (i.e. fledgling empire)
2) when you nuke and Ice planet would it become terran...
well, if thats near true, these are my answers:
1a) I imagine the pirates are just the usual unscrupolous members of any society who engage in piracy rather than honest work. since we are in Trader space, we can assume the pirates are TEC/Human, especially since they use a variant of TEC technology.
1b) there is already a thread about this, but yes, i think pirates could be expanded upon, and pirate battleships could be very interesting... maybe one way of winning bounty is to give the pirates a new ship that will latch on to a capital ship and take it over, thereby giving pirates control of a capital ship of level X power, then once it gets back to the pirate base, it can be retrofitted with pirate tech... idn, like i said there is another thread about it already. lastly about the planets... dont see why not... though i dont think it will do anything for gameplay... maybe if there was some sort of link between pirate bases... or give pirates a way to colonise new gravity wells and construct new bases that didnt exist at the beginning o the game... giving them more power late game... could be good, but i dont think giving them planets or letting them colonise planets is a really worthwhile idea.
2) i sort of agree with this point, i said once before that if you nuke an ice planet, would you not melt the ice and make it harder to colonise. however, simply because the ice melts does not turn it into a terran planet... maybe a water planet... but still, the planet is so cold that after a while the ice would simply re-form..... melting ice does not kick-start an evolutionary cycle.
i do agree though, maybe planet bombing needs to be looked at again
