Getting Started

Hi,

I just bought Sins of a Solar Empire and also the Entrenchment expansion. Everything is installed and configured just fine. And by the way, it looks super on my big 24" monitor. Now I am a little puzzled about where to start. There are separate startup links for both the main game and the expansion.

Based on the ReadMe for Entrenchment it looks to me like I should only use the link that starts the expansion since it seems as though this is a "pure expansion", i.e. it improves the basic game rather than creating a new one.

Is this right, i.e. should I just forget about playing the game without the expansion? My only concern is whether I will lose some game play scenarios or will not have gone through some necessary game activities by doing this.

Thanks for any guidance,

Michael

well you can play the game with out the expansion if you want

if you use the normal start up you will play only normal sins

oh btw there really is no senerios or campagnesfor nao so dont worry about that

Entrenchment is an add-on, it has everything that Vanilla Sins does and more. the only reason they left the vanilla startup option available is for backward compatability if you want to play multiplayer with a friend who has not yet expanded.

what i recommend you do before jumping in to a vs. AI game or multiplayer is to play through the 4 tutorials. these are in-game scenarios (in fact they're the only scenarios in the whole game, there's no campaign) that will explain alot about the games basics to you. highly worthwhile in terms of learning about the gameplay mechanics and the interface.

Thanks, I think I get it now. And playing the tutorials is a good suggestion. I often don't do that with a new game because I am so anxious to get going, but judging by the manual this game has a lot going on I need to get a grip on.
