Banned for knowing the difference between tourist and native prices.
Well it is the US so portions are typically bigger, that's why our country has weight issues. By me in Orange County, CA the prices are a little cheaper then that. Depending on if you go to a chain or privately owned place, you can get them for a few dollars a plate with a side, but then again there is a healthy sized Greek population here who'd be pissed at paying so much for food. BTW, if you watch the weekly mailer ads here, you can by 2 liter bottles of Coke for 79 - 99 cents each depending on which store is holding the sale, and cheeseburgers from McD's *yuck* are around 89 cents, sometimes there's a two for one special going on. Personally I prefer In-N-Out. Love to order off the secret menu. Get my double double and fries both done animal style. Damn it, I'm hungry now. I know where I'm going for breakfast in 5 hours.
Hmm...very interesting, thanks
So prices in US vary a lot, state by state, huh?
Also something to consider, having been to Greece myself, there's actually two prices for stuff on their menus. There's the tourist price and the Greek price. If you look and speak Greek (or are at least there with a local), you pay less, if not, you pay more. Happens a lot in Mexico too, fortunately I grew up speaking Spanish so homey don't play that down there. One of those handy little travel tips no one ever mentions.
Thats true. You cant imagine how much this happens here in Greece. They practically steal tourists money. And not only with food, but at everything, from hotels and rental cars, to souvenirs and basic goods.
Yeah, thats Greece. We suck
