And Morph, you were not specific on the caliber of bullet. Naval artillery is exactly the same as a bullet in a gun, just bigger

Meaning any kind of firearm that a man can carry, and that can fire bullets.
It means that I can not give you a 'practical' demonstration unless I set it all up, video record it, then post it online and provide a link. I'm sure you don't expect that of me.

Well, since you cant prove that theory with the curvature of the Earth, it can only remain a theory for now, right? 
That was my whole point. Its why I said that these guys are being more practical about "Myths", while you are being more theoretical. They put things into practice, testing to see if they are plausible.
And since they CANT take a naval battleship and fire with the artillery guns to test that theory, they did what they could with what they had. So they chose, the Myth with the handgun and the dropped bullet, because it was much easier to test and prove the "Myth" Confirmed.
In fact, they probably knew for sure that it can be done, it was just a matter of a good demonstration of it. The timing on the moment the bullet was dropped, and the M1911 fired had to be perfect, and that wasnt as easy as it sounds.
All in all, their demo was pretty darn good.
My point being, your theory is probably correct, but hey, since its a "little" difficult for the Mythbusters to put it into practice, lets stick with the small gun firing the tiny little bullet, and leave the big gunz for later, shall we? 
I get it. I just find this one funny cause it's a proven law of physics proven reliably. Besides, they have to fill up the season.
Fair enough. I dont mind proven laws of physics being demonstrated on TV by an entertaining show though
