Okay, here's what you do for this game: You have to "ban" the person who posted above you for an outrageous, silly, or funny reason. Got it?

banned for that is an untruth

some want that full free market

others want a carefully regulated market

most of us want a market that is regulated to a point but is free in others

Banned for how about a market like what we have.

All major companies in the Caribbean except Communications are partly owned by the goverment. However, it works the other way too. Every service is partly privatly owned even 'public transport,. ie everything is expensive

if you don't speak english you aren't worth speaking to in the minds of some
End of Ryat's quote

Well, I dont quite agree with that, but I think that since English is our Universal language, people should at least bother to learn some English, so they can communicate with most people properly.

If one doesnt want, or cant afford to learn a foreign language (considering that English is not their native), then thats fine. But there are many people that already speak English, but dont like to, because they feel that it is demeaning to their native language and culture.

Ahem....*French*....ahem O:)

All in all, if someone doesnt speak English, I will try to communicate with them any way possible. Believing that if you don't speak english you aren't worth speaking to, is really pathetic :typo:

And I wasn't guessing that Greeks never used subtitles, but there are many films in the US that are consistently dubbed, such as anime. The reason I was asking was because (taking anime as an example) when dubbed in English, they attempt to give the character an accent appropriate to their in-story origin. I have seen the same films dubbed in Spanish, but (but they can probably read too) with Hispanic accents rather than those appropriate to the characters.
End of Draakjacht's quote

Well, you cant really take anime as an example, because they are mostly made for kids, and like I said, a kid doesnt (or even cant if they are really young) want to read much, or even have trouble reading the subtitles.

Dubbing the kid's (animated) movies is done for convenience purposes only.

About the accent, the Greek voice actors dont change their accent, and they usually have funny voices, so they do their job pretty well in kid's movies, imo.

Quoting Draakjacht, reply 26226
Also, some films come with the option of subtitles or dubbing or neither, such as when Le Pact de Loupe made it big in America, although in the theater they just showed the subtitled version.
End of Draakjacht's quote

Yes, that is true. Some movies even have the option of subtitles and/or dubbing, but....are you going somewhere with this?

Quoting Draakjacht, reply 26226
So, I think it was a legitimate question. Next time you ask about an American rifle, I could give you hell... but then you're not in America, so I assume it's fair game.
End of Draakjacht's quote

Yes, it was legitimate question. But I wasnt pissed of at that. I was pissed of at this:

Banned for hating your country. The politicians are the real source of hatred and, luckily, they come and go.

And actually, anime is a good example. I don't know about the 'majority' of anime being for kids. Have you seen Gantz, Perfect Blue, Akira, or Vampire Hunter D? These are not children's films. Yet, still dubbed.

All in all, I was just wondering if voice actors make the same effort at fake accents everywhere. I thought about this because Russia is one of the biggest players of Fallout and thought, "It takes place in America. I wonder if they have a Russian language pack, but the voice actors do Russian in American accents." You are just teh most at hand source of similar information.

As for the Greek jokes, they are a cheap shot.

End of Draakjacht's quote

The politicians DONT come and go, they can be re-elected again and again and again. In the US, the same president can only be elected once, right? Well, guess what: In Greece, the same party, ergo, the same Prime Minister, can be elected again and again and again.

The party that wins the elections, and takes the role of the government, can pretty much screw everything up, and then act all innocent, and put the blame on the previous government, ergo one of the opposing political parties.

"We didnt do that, it was P.A.S.O.K. that did it. We are just trying to clean that mess." You get the picture.

And I dont blame just the politicians, I blame the whole %^%#%$#ing system, and everyone who supports it.

I dont know about the films you mentioned here, but arent most anime Japanese? Thats why they are being dubbed in English obviously. I dont like watching movies/series in Japanese, and so do many people like me.

But I wasnt talking about anime only. I was talking also about movies like Shrek, Ice Age, Over the Hedge, etc. Kids stuff.

Banned because politicians eat Gyros OF COURSE, as you can see from their body size:

Twice. And he only comes up for reelection once every four years.

Banned for taking "pork spending" literally.

Well, they can serve a maximum of ten years, if they were a vice president that moved up more than half way through the previous president's term.

And in Japan, cartoons are as much for adults as kids. And I know many adults that prefer dubbing, especially with more action oriented films. Hard to read and watch shit fly at the same time.

And back to the politicians, I was mocking the ambiguous structure of the sentence.
