Ahhh.  That is what I did wrong.  I have to face the target first.

HOT KEYS.

Can assign personal hot keys to both your caps using: "ctrl + #" It wont show up but after when you hit the assing number you will select teh ship it is assing to. Peice of cake.

Malice seems to have an omni directional activation, so use malice when you think cleansing brilliance is about to fire instead of the other way around.  Not exactly sure how effective malice is but is this example correct?

There are carriers in a line and I malice them and 12 frigates around them and I hit the carriers with CB.  I hit all the carriers for the full 2000 damage.  Malice ends and distributes the damage.  Each carrier hit deals 30% of 2000, so 600 damage to every target that was in the malice effect.  Effectively dealing 3000 damage before mitigation to each carrier and the 12 frigates and causing me to have an evil laugh.  Is that how the mechanics of malice and CB work?

1.) As Malice is omni directional, always cast it after you see your radiance lining up. requires only minimal learning.

2.) Aim for carriers/caps preferably, they take the whole cb volley

3.) For added effect, try to at least hit 2 targets with the beam that are under the effect of malice. effectivly doubles malice damage.

4.) Have your radiance OUTSIDE of your main fleet. do not include it. let it roam freely. it will increase its mobility a lot and lets you use cb from a flanking position (meaning you'l probably hit more stuff)

5.) Combine with volatile nanites for added effect.

6.) Combine with Missile barrage for added effect.

7.) Combine with Volatile nanites and missile barrage to destroy the universe.

when i use malice on a cap or sb with cb i always add in all sc for extra damage.

important detail from Astax, you have to pick a target that will take all 8 seconds of CB.

cap ships, carriers, possibly heavy cruisers if they're already at high enough mitigation, also Starbases and almost every orbital structure. don't pick small ships like LRMs or support cruisers. they'll die after like 5 seconds of CB. 

If you ahve trouble controling your then you would need to break it. And you need to be quick your tryign to fir 8 seconds into 10. Takes you 1 second to cast CB after casting malice. Meaning CB ends 1 second before Malice. You get maximum effect that way. If you do with with your mouse their si a good chanse you'll lose s few precioud seconds on CB on mslice targets.

CB 2000 dmg over 8 seconds so 2000 / 8 = 250. So that means for each second CB was doign damage without MAlice your wasting 30% of 250 that you could be dumping on yoru enemy. 250 / 100 x 30 = 75 extra dmg dumped on skips affected by malice per ship that got hit under malice.

So

1: 75 x 8 = 600
2: 150 x 8 = 1200
3: 225 x 8 = 1800
4: 300 x 8 = 2400
5: 375 x 8 = 3000 (From this point forward your stating to kill cap ships)

malice holds 2 seconds longer than cb does. casting malice shortly before cb goes of is nothing but a thing of experience. simply click malice, then hold your mouse over the intended cb target, when you see that radiance line up for the shot, click to unleash malice. easy as pie. no great apm needed....
