Error when creating Ironclad Online account

When I start to play SINS ill go to the Ironclad Online menu to set up my account for online play. I click create new account and enter my desired account name and password then I type in my cd key which I found on a sticker located above my game disc inside the box. I tried many different combinations of the game key making sure that I didnt mistake a O for a zero or anything like that but whenever I clicked create account a box will pop up saying wrong version of Ironclad online detected.

Can anyone please help me with this? I think I may have got a bad CD key or something.

I tried doing this once, and it wouldn't let me. I think it's because I wasn't connected to the internet, so you might try opening your web browser first, then starting up Sins and trying to create an account.

Wrong version of Ironclad online, means you have an outdated version of the game. Use Impulse to patch Sins of a solar empire to the latest version, then try again.
