Similar problem as #149. I-League appeared four times in a row. The first time was normal. After that, no contact (tombstone graphic when trying to contact the minor races). Also, they made no attempt to defend themselves (no shield on the planet, even after 10-20 turns of existence) - I forgot to check their treasury, but I don't think they got the big $$$ a minor gets when they showed up the second-fourth times.

In GCTech.TECH

In bonusmodules.sbmodule
22: Enchancing the Starbase's gyroscopic core -- Enchancing to Enhancing

In CoreEvents.EVENT

In CoreModules.SBMODULE
139: A factory run completly by nanobots -- completly to completely

181: For fun in the artifical sun! -- artifical to artificial

In Research01.ANOMALY
25: As one reasearch assistant put it -- reasearch to research

In shippak2.SHIP
7: Nothing is dreaded more by the enemy than a Dreadnaught! -- Dreadnaught to Dreadnought

There appears to be some confusion over whether it's 'Dreadnaught' or 'Dreadnought', especially since the ship's name and description each list a different way of spelling it. Most of the references in the game (and what is presumably the historical reference) are to 'Dreadnought', though.

Anyway, hope that helps keep the in game text accurate. :)

Load save affects culture flip: Save a game. Load. Lots of planets start culture flipping. That's an exploit, but sometimes it's 5 AM and you want to save before sleeping a little, and when you next play, the systems suddenly flip without reason.

Upgraded and started a new game on Thursday - USS Hero had trouble obeying the auto-survey order. It wandered off to the side of the map and stayed in one spot for several turns despite lots of attempts at auto-pilot to a few squares away, auto-sweep on/auto-sweep off, waving dead chicked over PC etc. Eventually it started moving again though I'm not sure why - path problem?
A minor race contacted me to say they'd stolen all the Drengin tech and was I interested? However I hadn't made contact with them at that point.
Trade good don't show on the governors list - WAD?
regards Rob

These are all from 1.04a.062

1. End of turn summary popup for Wealthiest race had the Drengin listed as wealthiest when, in fact, they were the poorest by a wide margin.

2. Arceans had been wiped out by the Terrans and yet two turns after they vanished the Drengin declared war on the Terrans and up comes a popup from the Arceans to the effect of "You are at war with our ally, the Drengins...we must declare war".

3. Military victory end-game movie, fourth line of text, the word "domination" should be "dominion".

4. The AI races are still skipping techs. It's especially noticeable in the beginning of the game when they have none of the "Theory" techs but quite a few of the later techs that _should_ have been preceded by the various "Theory" techs.

5. A captured "Eyes of the Universe" wonder didn't seem to perform the same as a home-grown one. It should have made all the enemy starbases visible and it didn't.

6. Late game I stopped getting ship completions showing up in the end-of-turn completion popup. A save, exit and restore "fixed" the problem.

7. Espionage never seems to get to "Advanced" level. The last notifications I received were for "High" and I never got any stolen techs.

Just a reminder to look at the AI's behaviour when being declared war upon (not attacking the next turn, all defenders leaving orbit and just sitting there).

Invaded a planet used information warfare had 1.06 billion left at battle end get to game screen and I have a population of 214768 on the 2 planets in that system both planets are pq 18. I wanna know where the extra 416 billion people came from I can't use the view population button anymore because that one system covers over half the minimap on a gigantic galaxy.

nm Next turn both planets dropped down to the 100000 population cap but I still wanna know how 1 billion pop turns into 200 billion.

Another bug is an inconsistency in "Treasury" placement. At one point in a game against "Normal" AI's (lower than I usually play), I had so reamed all the AI players with smart tech trading that they were all in debt or close, and I had over 20k in the bank. I contacted all the minors and none of them had much cash left either ... so I was definitely the wealthiest empire on the map. And yet on the "Stats" view I showed as 5th place in Treasury. Obviously not quite correct.

Thanks for this. My wife is a tech writer and appreciates that you did this or else she was going to.

Typo:

On the description of the speed ability when setting up your civilization, "maneuvering" is spelled as "mauvering" and also broken into two lines like so: mauve
ring. I don't think it was meant to describe a finger ornament!

I have a game (medium size universe) locking upand droping back to windows as one of my planets is being taken. When I reload the most recent saved game the error repeats, when I go back a turn the error repeats when the planet is taken again. I am running XP on a Gateway 2.2 Gig machinge with .8 Gig of mem. :(

The problems started after finishing the research on the tech 'Xeno Propaganda':

1) The ingame music stopped completely
2) There was no Xeno Propaganda info screen
3) Xeno Propaganda has no technology summary in the Research Archives

I'm playing with version 1.04a.062

If you're interested, I saved the game just before finishing Xeno Propaganda. So, I still have the savegame.

After it went wrong the first time, I gave it a second chance by loading the savegame. The same result.

In spite of the little flaws, the game is GREAT! Thanx again! :D

OKAY, so the forum won't let me post the debug.err file.

I have a long file here that complains chronically of an error in line 397 of MWIN.CPP. It was written out when the game (1.04a.062) crashed to the desktop after I killed the third space monster with my latest overlord.

Duglis: I'm going to have to look into that.

Obsidian: Did you upgrade to 1.04 yet?

TheoLeo: Because EVIL WinDVD took over that codec.

Run this: http://www.stardock.com/files/ms_mp3codec.exe
Download the rad video tools from here: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

If neither of those fix the problem, you may have to uninstall WinDVD.

EtherMage: The governor screen will be fixed in 1.05.  Just added mousewheel support for the GNN.

DonFESQ: can you please e-mail your save game to me at [email protected]? I'll need both the .sav file and the corresponding folder.

Scannter28: can you please send your save game to me?

Norty: if you have a save game that illustrates this, please send it to me.

For those of you who are getting crashes, please install SmartException from Stardock Central, under the Free Stuff tab and send the reports that it generates to me.

Pyrkaige: Please e-mail the save game to me.

T1Pimp: try installing the bink tools.

Jack: bonus points from a starbase?

Zoshan: There was a bug in 1.04.059 where events.civ0 in saved games wasn't restoring a variable correctly for purchased social projects.  If you delete the file, it should fix the problem. I'm not sure if the fix got into 1.04a.062

Steveatos: send me the save game.

Captain Space: send me the game.

Dave0: that's an unrelated error and it shouldn't be causing the crash.  Do you have a SmartException report?

Fireman, have you installed any new mods recently?

Either way, please send me your debug.err.

where do i find the debug.err file? im running windows 2000 pro. just installed 1.04a through stardock central.

game keeps crashing to desktop without any error window or anything. this happens right after i try loading a saved game or starting a new game -happens right after the window reaches "100%" loaded.
The debug.err file should be in your GalCiv directory. You could probably just do a search for the file to find it that way.

All of one of my enimy's planets rebeled and joined my empire, but that race wasn't taken off of the deplomicy screen and they never lost. Much more distressing; when I clicked on the status button on that race the game crashed.

The new patch just sends me back to the desktop. I've repaired and it works OK then, but reinstalling from Stardock causes the same problem. Here are the last few lines of debug.err: Debug Message: Creating movie handler. Debug Message: Initialize Game Options. Debug Message: Create setup screens. *DEBUG ERROR: *** MWinEditFields::Create - Unable to load sprite book ModAbilities *** What does that mean? Well, back to 1.03 for me.

Given all Frogboy's comments about working over the arcean AI for ship tactics, is this a bug?

They are attacking my main system and come over with 6 corvettes and 6 transports. They stack 2 corvettes and a transports in one square (good), 4 corvettes in a second square, and 4 transports on their own, up front where I can get at them... Bye bye transports. (And no, no good reason - all the units were stacked together the turn before...)

I expected better at Masochistic! (Want the save?)
