C:\user\"user"\AppData\Local\IronCladGames\SinsofaSolarEmpire\Screenshot

AppData is a hidden file, you've got to disable hidden files to see it. This is for Vista.

Also, the files are going to be bitmap files (.bmp), i'd recommend you convert the files to a jpeg file (.jpg). You can do this in paint if you don't have any photo editing software. You can also edit in paint to some degree as well. An easy transfer to the website to this site is an offsite photosharing site. I personally use photobucket. Afterwords, just transfer the file using the image code ([IMG*]imageurlcode[/IMG*](remove the*)

afterwords, you'll end up with a screenshot to whare with everyone here.

eh, might as well toss one up while i'm here. Bad Pirates!

Well your answer is right but for xp users of both pro and home edition it is:

c:\Documents and settings\user\local settings\application data\ironclad games\sins of a solar empire\screenshots

It is hidden by default. Did try this: In Windows Explorer go to Tools>Folder Options>View and checked 'show hidden...'?

"when you take a screenshot where on earth do you go to see it"

I believe it's some place in Conneticut, but I could be wrong... ;)

Back on topic, just search the game files if none of this works.

Should the game also show you the whole path to the file when you press the screenshot button?

Just a quick tip for anyone else reading this...i made a "screenshots" post a few days ago about the same thing.

I'm using Vista, and  i didnt have a screenshots folder.  However, i used CTRL SHIFT TAB to go to windowed mode, and it took a screenshot with PRINT SCR after that...but only in windowed mode (not in full mode).  I'm not sure what the deal was, so i remapped the screenshot key to CTRL SHIFT S (so i can just CTRL SHIFT Z to hide the HUD and S to take the picture real quick...i actually have that mapped to my G15 keyboard !).

So if Print Screen doesn't work on your keyboard, try remapping the "take a screenshot" key in the game to another key and see if that works ;p

afterwards, i had a nice screenshot folder and everything :) yay.

now just to find out if there's a location in an ini file or something to change the screenshot output type.  bmp is crap resolution.

End of quote

so this is where the pics go when you push print screen? or is there some other command, because i cant find them

_nebulocity_ is right if you cant find your screenshot remap the key that is used to take the screenshots and it should create the folder when you take your first one, to be sure that the screenshot was actually taken after you take it press the Ctrl+shift+z again and it should show the full directory line if it doesnt show that directory line then the screenshot was not taken.

urm. how do you remap the screenshot key? =)

on the key binding section of the options menu find where it says take screenshot.  the default key for this print screen key. left click on it then hit clear and then add and press whatever key you want it to be.
