Sins kills my PC's sound?

This is a strange problem indeed.  When I play Sins, and then quit the game, it kills my PC's sound completely.  It only comes back after a reboot. 

I didn't realize at first that this problem only occurred while playing Sins, at first I thought it was a random sound problem.  But after much testing, I have narrowed it down to happening only after I quit Sins.  The problem happens both when I use my Yamaha sound card, and also the on-board sound from my Epox 8KHA+ motherboard. 

Can anyone help at all?
