Patch 1.04.59 Stand-Alone

Hello,

I'm new to the forums. Just noticed that there is no 'stand-alone' patch for Galactic Civilizations 1.04. Stardock please make available this patch as my games machine is not connected to the Internet.

Sigh. To repeat what has been said a thousand times before : As was the case with 1.03, there will be a stand-alone patch in a little while. Just wait.

Barring some disaster, there's only going to be one 1.04 stand-alone patch, so wouldn't you rather the folks using Stardock Central banged on it first and raised red flags about problems with it? Or would you rather have been stuck with the completely screwed up trade goods until the expansion pack is released?

Stand alones are only made available after the entire patch cycle is complete. There are typically between 2 to 4 mini-patches in any given cycle. Depending on how you look at it, 1.04x is on its first or second mini patch so there's probably at least one more update before a stand alone will be available.

As he said, he's NEW to the forum so he doesnt know about the stand alone proceedure. Cut him some slack. Now, I'm sure that after he's been here awhile and read the 10,000 posts he'll know everything there is to know. But since he's new, he hasnt had the chance to see the thousand other times its been explained. Dont pull a Mooforum on the guy or he might think that we're all NOT a bunch of swell gamers like world-wide reports have attested to!!

You can download 1.04 with SDCentral and archive it to a disk, CD, whatever.

Thanks for the voice of reason there mate. No, I hadn't had an opportunity to read and understand the update cycle - I just bought and play the game. My apologies if I offended the 'regulars' sensibilities here but as I did outline (And for a very good reason because since, in my 20 years of computing I'm fairly used to rampant aggression in a forum) I said I was 'new'.

go easy on em Blade. They mean well. And 99.9% of us are real friendly; you'll see that as you lurk and post. And the other .1%? well, they aren't half bad.
You can do as Frogboy suggests, or do as I do: just wait a wee bit and the standalone will be available in the download section of this website. No saving archives to cd etc, just a download to your hard drive and unzipped directly to your installed GalCiv files. On behalf of the 99.9%, I bid you welcome! Enter freely of your own will and leave some of the happiness you bring. (but if your blade is SILVER, please leave it in the courtyard.) ;) ;)
