God and Evolution

Touchy Subject...

Why are we here?.......How did we get here?.....Were we created?....Who is our creator?.....Is there a God?......Who created God?.....Did we evolve?.......Where did matter come from?....How did life begin?

Those are a sample of some things I've seen in a few articles floating around here. I understand the argument about which one is more "correct" or "acceptable". I, however have developed my own theory....God created the universe, that coincides with what I believe...it's not scientific fact....from then on, tended the universe as a gardner....form a tiny seed to the massive thing it is today. In this universe he created life....bacteria, mircrobes, algae, plankton, fish, amphibians, more plants, reptiles, more plants, birds, more plants, mammals, and more plants. I don't think Genesis is quite accurate....before that time God probably experimented with dinosaurs and large mammals...and then little monkey-people and through time they became humans....Adam and Eve, the first pair that actually started the human race(and I'm aware of Lilith...hence the explanation). From these two, and others outside of Eden the human race was established....and....here we are today. That's my understanding of religion and science the way I like it to be, its balanced and I don't have a problem with it...does it bother me that I could have evolved from primates?...NO....I just wish we could keep the cool tales that most of the others have....mmm prehensile.

That's enough philosophy for me today,

Why such the debate?

Why do peope have such a need to explain thier existance?

We are here isn't that all that matters?

In the end we'll either be able to ask the question or just be dead.
Either way we probably won't care at that point......

I agree...that's the standpoint I took for quite some time, but it isn't enough for some people, so I try to explain it to them in a way that should be good for everyone...well, almost everyone....

Wouldn't we all be inbred if creationism was the case? (start the banjo music)

I take offence to that. I play banjo, among other things.........

I don't see how creationism would make us all inbred.... explain your reasoning, if you would.

Honestly, I can't get the two straight so I shouldn't be here in the first place, but this is the way I see it:

There is a higher being, a God if you will, that created the universe.

That's all I bring to the table. If we evolved from primates, then Adam and Eve must have came along much later in time as far as Eden is concerned. I find it much more intriguing to believe that we evolved rather than what I have affectionately tagged the "BAM here we are" effect.

I'm in the middle, undecided, and that's all I've got. Don't try to force your opinions (disguised as facts) upon me, I'm not going to change my mind.

I agree...I believe Eden was just later in history, God has a sense of humor so why not start us out as hairy little monkey people?

As for the tails, that'd be badass. I'd flaunt that bad boy. Unless it looked like this...

If any admins deem that as porn, remove it if you must. Anyone can search Google for "human tails" and click on the first link.

...sat back with a pipe to watch how things played out.

I just got a really sweet Escher-ish mental image of God sitting a spindly wooden chair watching the world with a pipe and glasses. Very grandfatherly.

I also don't think God is uptight like most Christians think....if you created everything, you've got to have a sense of humor and be a bit loose...I mean look at the platypus and crazy people....they are great fun to watch...

You know I got in trouble in high school for saying just such a thing. Freshman year, early 1985, I was in religion class at my Catholic high school, and the curriculum was the Old Testament. Our teacher was a pimply-faced 21-year-old recent grad from Notre Dame who believed in a literal interpretation of the Bible. I was confused about how the human species carried on if Cain killed Abel. How does one male child procreate? My teacher had the answer: Adam and Eve had other children, including females, later on.

So I raised my hand again and asked, "Wouldn't it have been a sin to knock up his sister? That's pretty disgusting."

The teacher didn't appreciate what I said and sent me to the dean's office for disrepectful language (toward what...him or the Bible? I'll never know). Either way, all I did was ask a legitimate question.
