CTD no warning, no reason...

Hi all,

Was I wrong or did I read that there was a problem with the game simply CTD'ing to desktop after about 30-45 minutes of gameplay before the latest patches?

Reason I ask, is I am having this problem.

I just bought a new system:

Gateway FX6800 w/intel i7 - 920 CPU,  3 gig mem, ATI HD 4850 1 gig, and so on..

I also purchased both SINS and SINS Entrenchment.

The entire system is updated and current (ie all service packs and drivers), the game is current and updated.   I can start and play a game and it is smooth like a ... well it is smooth!  :-)    But anywhere from 30-45 minutes into a game, it CTD's.  No warning, no errors, nothing but the game crashing out and me getting a Windows Error Requester.

Is this still an issue in the game and being worked on?

i can run mine for several hours without a ctd/dump. Im testing some info i found in the mods' threads about lowering the texture qualities to high or medium to see if that helps. Might give that a shot just to see if it helps.

If that helps or changes things, then it would indicate there is still some problem in the game/graphics engine.  I hope they are working on resolving it.  Not being able to take advantage of my hardware is not what I am willing to 'accept'.

At everything maxed out, I am pretty steady at 40-50 FPS in game and at full resolution.  Other than the random and sudden CTD to desktop, everything runs smooth so I doubt lower the settings would have any affect because at those frame rates, it is obvious my system is not having a bottle neck issue nor is it struggling at all to handle the graphics and effects.

I realize these kinds of problems are not easy to fix but it is something that needs to be addressed regardless.  Playing for 30-45 minutes, getting engrossed into a game to only suddenly find yourself staring at the desktop is not what I have in mind for an entertaining game time period.  :-)

I usaly play with all settings maxed wit the resolution maxed too, and besides some errors with the mods i run i almost never get minidumps, let alone a CTD. And my computer is only slightly inferior to yours, so we should be getting the anme performance.

Hmm ok I wonder if this has anything to do with the processor type perhaps?    This system is 64 bit and the Intel -7 -920 processor has 8 independent processory threads via 4 cores if I understand the lingo correctly..    Basically all the tools I use show 8 different CPU graphs when I open something like the system monitoring task manager.  It also shows the same in the hardware list.

This particular machine is brand new as well.. only a week old now or so.  It is fully patched and updated and I have no issues with any other titles I have installed.

I guess I will keep trying things to see if I can find some kind of resolution to this.
