plasma storms, gas giants, etc

What are the various effects of the non habitable locations?

For instance, plasma storms dont allow any fighters/bombers to launch (so a SB with them is a waste), and

Anti Matter wont recharge/doesnt exist.

Anything else for P.storms?

Nothing else for Plasma Storms. Magnetic clouds disable special abilties that need AM.

Stars allow ships to recharge 2.5 AM per sec.

Also gas giants cause splash damage to be done whenever ships shoot.

Plasma storms are not a waste for SB as it prevents its destruction by bombers, one of the number 1 killers of starbases today, especially Orkulus. Magnetic Clouds can offer their own bonuses to starbases, not so much the Advent's as it relies heavily on antimatter abilities, but for Argonevs that can construct fleets are particularly efftive their in that magnetic fields can defend your fleet and your starbase from powerful Cap Ship AM abilities (Missile Barrage anyone?)

Also Asteroid Fields and belts make all ships miss a certain (or higher?) percentage of the time. Not sure at the moment of the exact value.

He meant that SC upgrades for SBs are pointless in Plasma storms.

I think that  in Asteroid Fields, weapons hit 20% of the time. I'm not completely sure though.

I think its 20% chance of missing. I could be mistaken

Asteroid fields reduce accuracy by 20%. It makes them a bit better when used defensively, but kind of weak compared to the Magnetic and Plasma fields.

These are HUGE!  It adds quite a bit of strategy to choosing WHERE to fight, especially vs. a stronger opponent.

I'm increasingly surprised that these things aren't documented....there's so much to this game that is unknown and nebulous.

You can simply click on an astroid belt/magnetic cloud etc. and it'll give a short description about the effects on your fleet. The game won't give you the actual numbers, but it's by no means undocumented or anything.

In the tooltips of the ships in the storm/asteroid belt the exact effects are listed.

:)  Some mods have used magnetic cloud, plasma storm and asteroid belt abilities as "weapons".  :)  Interesting sometimes, sometimes frustrating, haha, depending on which side you are on.  :)

Anyway, interesting discussion,

Take care,
