haha, that story was the story that sparked the idea for this post. I was wondering if it would come up.

I got the crap beaten out of me online. I eventually got down to my homeworld with no ships left. When they started bombarding it (I don't recall who it was), I just started typing in the lyrics to "It's the end of the world as we know it" by R.E.M. Right before I got to the fast part that nobody knows, I lost. At this point everyone else was "singing" along too. Now I'll never know how that part goes.   Dang it.

I gave credits to the AI while I was bombing thier home world, I got the response "Thank you, is there more where that came from?"

I can't think of any funny stories, but if one comes up, i'll tell you.

I name my planets humorously (sort of) . After awhile I forgot the names of some of my planets. When another player, I think it was Tricky, sent his fleet at my homeworld, I got a message that read "Hostile forces approaching Dang It!"

These are great, the funnyest thing that ever happened to me was I was about to take the enemys last planet and a pirate fleet jumped in and helped me. I was about to win but I accidentaly quit. Not realy that funny but it sucked.

Oh, another thing I just thought of. I started a 1vs1 game played for about 2 hours. I finaly broke through to the enemys homeworld only to find in deserted. I bombed it for a while and nobody came to defend it. I wanted a fair fight so I told him I was attacking at that point. No reply. I said "hello?". Still no reply. I decided to check to see if he was lagging only to discover that he left the game over an hour ago. As you could imagine, that sucked.

nor do I. the advantage is that most people that are modding are more experienced, so they'll have better stories!

Ok, I modded my pirates ships to have the ability to self destruct if they take too much damage, funny thing is I set the damage before detonate too high like 75% and the time to like 2 sec, so I go into the pirate base and start swarming me and after only damaging 1 ship like 75%, it detonted. Destroying 80% of the fleet, and just then the raid was launched and it was against me so I see 10 pirate cap 100 pirate frigates screaming at my fleet, so i was like what the hell, I go and destory 1 of their ship, there goes my fleet, and killing only 1 cap and 25 frigate so great, all in all I managed to destroy all that pirate of the raid but it took like 2 times the number ships just to do it and a whole hell lot of resources

This isn't so much a funny story but I do want to share it nontheless. I've been playing sins ever since it was released and tis has only happened once so here we go.

I was playing a huge-multi solar system game with all the ai's on the top diff. I like to set two vasari as allies to make it more difficult, but the thing in this map was that each one of these vasari was flanking me. somewhere around 1hr into the game I couldn't expand anymore in my own solar system as every planet was taken, and I couldn't make a ceasefire agreement with either empire as their targetsafter the frst diplomatic relations were at least one empire away, so they started attacking me without reproach.

This was before entrenchement and its defese upgrades so I wa getting pummelled. So I rushed a Kol and Akkan into roduction and immediately sent them to expand into one of the three uncolonized solar systems. As it turned out it wasn't a moment too late becaue the moment I colonized the first new planet two huge forces started attacking each flank in the old system. So as I expanded in the new system, I slowly ceded planets in the old sysem destroying anything of value on the way.

By the time I conquered most of the new system I was down to only my home planet and a relatively large fleet in the old one. I quickly trabsferred my home planet to the new safer system and sent my old fleet through very hostile territory the moment both AIs attacked my lst remaining planet in the ols solar system.

So as I said, not funny but its just one of those games/playshat really stick to mind 

I just got out of an online 2v2 game. Me and my partner put a ton of bounty on one guy from the begining of the game so he had no time or money to do anything because he was always under atack. He couldnt even explore. So in a last ditch effort he ammassed a huge fleet and attacked my partner. I went to stop him with my much bigger fleet and he tryed to run away. But little did he know he was inadvertantly jumping into a pirate base. The pirates mauled him and eliminated his entire fleet. We won that game.

I was online the other day. Some guy with 0 games was challenging me to a 1v1. My initial reaction was smurf. I asked him how long he had had the game (2 days) and how long he had been playing MP (1 day). I then asked him why he thought he would be able to win. His response was because he was a tactical genius and had played heaps of RTS games and was good at Starcraft.

Guess what - I slaughtered him - it would have been over quicker if I had attacked him harder and sooner but I was being careful as I thought it was a good player smurfing.

All he built were a prog, a few discs initially for colonising and then some defence vessels. Part way into the game (before the defence vessels) got out and about, I asked him when the tactical genius was going to show up - I was told to wait. I then asked him before he quit and he congratulated me for beating a noob.

The game itself wasn't funny but the way he was telling me how good he was and then how badly he got owned was...

I once put a small typo into the Kol's beam cannons.

First I realised was when I was testing it, and it started one-shotting militia Cobalts...

... I had so much fun with the idea I played the map to its inevitable (short) conclusion.

This wasnt in Entrenchment so dont get confused.

WAAAY back in 1.05, i was playing a Large Multi Star map against 2 unfait AI. I was playing TEC, so improve my skill with them. Well, after i qued up a Sova, i instead was welcomed to the lovely mesh of a Haloycon carrier. At this point i am like "WTF?" so i just let it keep building. Soon, i had an Advent Carrier with all the Specs of its TEC counterpart. I didnt Mod the game as of yet, rather it was a random error that 1.05 users might stumble across. So here i am with an Advent Carrier leading an Armada of Tec Ships.
