Why Targeting Uplink?

Usually targeting uplink is seen as a rather useless ability. Frigates that stand still should have a 100% chance to hit each other.

But not so with strikecraft. Even if strikecraft stand still they do not get hit by 100% but by 70/75% according to this reference sheet: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p7xc_snd9Cc-6o2UwvPEWUg&gid=1

A lvl 3 TU then helps your gardas very much to combat those nasty anima drones!

Any comments on this? Does it work that way?

The ability only really comes in handy against strikecraft or against Advent Usinga Rapture with Vertigo. That ability reduces the hit % of opposing ships. There's also asteroid belts where everything has its hit  percentage lowered by 20%. Overall, the ability targeting uplink is rarely useful. Get ion bolt if u have an Akkan. For that mattere, pick a differentrace. I hate TEC.

While accuracy is not that great of a bonus, the increased range can really help. TEC already have some pretty long range units (is the LRM the longest of the LRF?), so boosting that advantage can help you take out some of their ships before they can even fire at you. It's also useful for keeping Ogrovs out of SB attack range.

Its pretty good counter-measure for Advent Repulsion

targetting uplink is the only way to keep your ogrov's out of range of level 2 mass disorientation.

All flak frigates have reduced accuracy against strike craft. The targeting uplink translates into a full DPS increase for taking out fighters and bombers, no matter what system you're in.

The range increase is useful on defense to have your starbase outrange torpedo cruisers, and to increase the range of your gauss defenses. This helps to create a stronger overlapping field of fire.

Range is useful on the offense so that your orgov's can outrange starbase abilities. With the LRM upgrades, you can even outrange starbase long range weapons to boot.

Accuracy gives you a clear edge in special sectors which have accuracy penalties. Take full advantage of these sectors when making a choke point.
