Computer says "no".

OK, I'm stuck. I've just spent the last three hours trying to solve it. I've tried everything sugested in the first post here:

My Video Drivers are up to date, dated: 6th may 2009.

I tried uninstalling the game, re-installing the Video drivers then the game, and yes I cleaned out all the files for the game manually.

The Game is fully patched

Direct X is up to date.

A copy of the game that runs fine on my work PC, which is isntalled on a USB flash drive does the same thing as the copy on my home hard drive. At first the game would crash after a blank screen and say the display driver wasn't working. It was at that point I updated my drivers. I don't have any mods isntalled. Now the game blank screen's and stops working compleatly.

I left the game for ten minutes to see if it did anything, it didn't. I couldn't even Ctrl+alt+Del out. I could only use the power button to turn my PC off.

My system:

Dual core AMD 2.52 Ghz

4 Gig of RAM

NVIDA Geforce 7600GT

I'm off to a LAN do in a few hours and we wanted to try a game or two, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I had a similar issue.  My computer would crash to a blue screen, then restart. The cause was something with my graphics cards, also a GeForce 7600.  I did some digging on the forums here, and found that a most people running into these graphics card/driver issues are running with NVIDIA GeForce 7x series cards.  It might not be the solution you want to hear, but changing to a different card series will fix the problem.  I had some extra cash, and was able to upgrade to a GeForce 9600 card.  Since then I've had no problems.

There are also reports of a few specific Nvidia drivers that will fix the problems, none of which are the most recent versions.  Search "BSOD" (blue screen of death), or "Vista Crashes", and links to the Nvidia files will appear.  While these drivers didn't solve the problem for me, each computer is different.

My Comp's stats: 2.4 Ghz Intell Core2 Dual, 4 Gb RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9600, Windows Vista 32bit and no problems.
