Galaxy Forge3: Maps not appearing.

Probably an easy fix.

Since the last Sins Update a few months ago, my Galaxy forge maps havn't been showing up. Specifically they will not show up in Entrenchment, however, they will show up in Original Sins of a Solar Empire. They do not, however, show up in the "Galaxy Forge" Section in Sins of a Solar Empire (Vanilla) instead, showing up in the "Large Scenarios" this is probably because I saved a copy of the map in that Galaxy Directory.  I've also put a test map in the Entrenchment Galaxy folder, but it will not show up. So what's going on?

I modified the Galaxy manifest and got it to appear, but it doesn't seem like that's the optimal way of doing things yes? If that's the actual solution, my bad. But if there's a way to get them to appear in the Falaxy forge section where they belong I'm all ears(Or eyes, technically).

Copy map to Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Application Data/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Blah Blah/Galaxy

Edit galaxy.manifest to reflect the map changes.

you would be placing the maps in the OLD program files galaxy folder, you should be placing them in the NEW galaxyforge folder next to your mods folders

here is the detailed advice

the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

also the galaxy forge maps only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map types

hope this helps

I have been having a similar problem with my maptypes but I have followed all of these directions carefully.

I currently have my maps in this folder adress : C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire

Is there anyway I can check to see where the game is actually trying to find where the Galaxy Forge Maps are? As far as I can tell, they are supposed to be in here but when I try to access them in-game in the Galaxy Forge tab, it doesnt appear.

Would running Vista 64 have anything to do with it?

genericuser5,have you tried the galaxyforge folder under the user space sins of a solar empire?

in my experience sins 1.16 & entrenchment 1.02 both look at the contents of the galaxyforge folder to list maps in the galaxyforge maps page in the game

before 1.16/entrenchment 1.02 the correct location was the program files galaxy folder, and for the earlier entrenchment you also had to add the maps to the galaxy.manifest

hope this helps

You mean that immediately there is a folder caled Sins of a Solar empire in the USER folder?

What would this adress look like?

What do you mean by Galaxy manifest? Where can I find/update this?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I currently have my maps in this folder adress : C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire
End of quote

There should be a GalaxyForge folder inside this one if you're up to date. Just put any GF maps in there, no need to mess with manifests or any of that.

1 the path examples ARE listed in my reply #3 you replace the 'user name' with your log in name in the computer and the TWO FOLDERS after the user name ARE HIDDEN FOLDERS and windows HIDES hidden folders by default so you NEED to showe hidden files & folders in the folder options

2 C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

3 galaxy.manifest is found in the entrenchment folder and in 1.02 & later should only contain the galaxy files that are in the program files galaxy folder which should be only the maps from ironclad games. back in 1.00 & 1.01 I wrote a small utility to update the galaxy.manifest with all of the files in the program files galaxy folder, but after the release of 1.02 I stopped distribution of the program as it was only needed for the 1.00 & 1.01 releases and all entrenchment users should be at 1.02

hope this helps
