Pirates help home planet

Hi guys I will be thankful for any help whatsoever.

I am attepting to make pirates a playable charecter, i want a few things some more definite than others

         1. I want to make the only planet for pirates to start on is the home base, not desert as well.

         2. This will be hard if not impossible, The pirate base to be able to attack, (I tried to just copy the capital ship lasers etc, i knew it wouldnt work, but hell i tried)

         3. Again another thing that may be difficult, I want to make it so the pirates frigate factory when it comes time for a pirate raid automatically produce so many ships

        4. For all pirates, this includes the rebels, or the straddlers to be under my control.

1.  You'll have to make custom maps, but if you created a new planet type and copied the TerranHome code into it so it would be PLANET_PIRATEHOME.entity, just give it the same mesh as the normal pirate base and it would look right.  Oh and make sure it has logistics slots...

2. Give it an attack like a guass rifle or if that doesn't work, give it the rad bomb ability from the Marza.  I know that you can set planetary buffs, so it shouldn't be too hard...

3. Just modify the Vasari phase gate ability so it spits out corsairs/reapers/other instead and then give that ability to a frig factory...

4. Huh?  That wasn't a sentence... 

 

Oh, and just making a comment here.. Do you intend to have pirate caps?  That would be kinda cool anyways and you could use things like, Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman etc for the names...  idk, just saying...

thanks for that so far the mod is coming along well, it probably doesnt help sins just updated but the first two you said worked like a charm, the third not so good, it works, but half an hour later it crashes.

I'll rephrase question 4

i want the rebels and the people who hang around planets that havent yet been colonized, to be controled by the pirate player.

I hadnt thought of changing names yet it was kinda just do it first and customize later but thanks for the idea.

For anybody that can suggest something else for the pirates just say it, I dont know whether I'am going to upload this mod, but their is probably going to be some other person who wants this nowledge

Also, Please give me any knowledge you gain about the returning fleet ability.  My mod requires a similar principle.  Sorry that it crashes, but if you go to user.entity and set showerrors to true, then you'll get a bug report which will tell you the location of the error.

As for #4, I don't recommend it nor do I believe it is possible...  Even if you could do it, the pirate kodiaks and lrms would be more than enough to overun every other faction in the first minute!!!

I too would like to see this mod. Also, if you don't know already, the new developer exe.1.17&1.03 is available from the "downloads" page. This tool is great for indicating where you have made errors. And as a suggestion, how about a pirate star base.

if you want an example of Pirates, just look at the 7 Deadly sins mod. We have not only the normal pirate ships but we even have custom cap ships and abilities for them such as plundering and computer control. Expect a lot more being fleshed out sometime in the future including a Titan Pirate cap.

hey guys internet went down due to our city being rewired lolz.....didnt expect that to happen, so soon anyway.

The mod works wonders as for the question number 4, i got it working but, it gets weird, I had to renamme them i went out of the way because of this breakthrough, then it crashes,X( .

doesn't matter.

as for starbases well i dont have a credit card so i can't buy it.

I got number 2 to work and number 1.

3 well with the new update I am transferring it all over now so it will be interesting to see whether i can get it truely working

:)  Good luck!!!  I have the StarFire mod for Entrenchment that i got a playable Pirate race to work on. Though my direction may have been different than yours. I gave them Capitals and frigates and support craft as well as research and starbases. The planet thingy is different for me than perhaps for you. They start on the default home planet Terra, just like any race starting out, though some maps of course have you start somewhere else, that is the way those maps are set up. 

Anyway, you are free to take a look and see if anything that i did will help you in what you are trying to do. Take care, and good luck.  Its fun but hectic sometimes modding!!!   :)
