OS Question

I recently got a new laptop along with sins of a solar empire, which happens to be completely awesome. Anyways, 1 day of Vista is enough for me and I've already decided to switch over to Ubuntu (Linux) and my CD is arriving in the mail. My question is, since I've already installed Sins of this OS, what are my options? Do I have the ability to transfer it over to Linux, or would I have to buy another disk just to play it on Linux. And now that I think of it, would I even be able to run Sins on Linux?

Here's a clue - Game For Windows....

I have heard about people using WINE on here, but it is NOT supported so you are on your own (unless other linux users can help you)

BTW - you will not need another CD to install AFAIK, but you need Impulse to patch the game...

The game itself is supposed to work on WINE, there's a thread around here somewhere how to do it, just search for how to run Sins on WINE. But Impulse is a .NET program and won't run on Linux, so you'll have to figure out what to do to patch your game.

People have been posting that it runs fine on Win7. There used to be an issue with Impulse itself after one Win7 build, but that was not the RC and it was a while ago. It should be fine now.
