Suggestion: remove the option to create multiple players

Suggestion: remove the option to create multiple players

Okay, so, here's the deal...be it people who fake other people, people who stack teams by hiding their true identity or the fact that there is no way in hell to be sure of who is who, smurfs/multiple nicknames are a huge problem in this community. Personally, I fail to see the need for multiple nicknames. All it does is giving people the chance to dodge the consequences of their behaviour. I can't even begin to imagine the reason that made IC implement this feature anyway and miss out on crucial parts like custom map downloading at the same time.

1 nickname per account should be more than enough. Or at least make the account shown behind the nickname, like "Azrak (Azrak_Navarion)" and "[_]-Azrak (Azrak_Navarion)". I think either change would help the community evolve a lot. I fear that this suggestion will just be ignored like so many others, but I'm giving it a shot nontheless.

Plus, this will both benefit new players who don't want to be stomped by clan-smurfs who fake to be newbies and veteran players who want to know who is who in order to balance teams in pug games. So please guys, think about it?

Don't put words into my mouth, especially since you want to keep this on an objective level. I am not implying that you harassed anyone in such a way, I was merely providing an analogy to point out just what I think of "fun" like that.

Now for you arguments..

- You say it's their free choice to smurf. Correct. It'd also be my free choice to go out and chop my neighbors head off. Why I don't do that? Well, for one thing I don't hold a grudge against him and it'd be against my personal beliefs. But aside of that, the community/land I live in provides a set of rules everyone has to agree to (a.k.a. laws). The same, to a lesser extent, goes for pretty much all kind of communities, be it in sport, hobbies or politics. I am talking about exactly that ruleset, and to a degree rules always infringe on the freedom of people. The difference is that the majority agrees on it, which I think it does.

- The strategic aspect you spoke of (the acquisition of knowledge about your enemies) is pretty much faked, and I think you know that and have never used it as such. Everyone tries out different tactics all the time, smurfing or not. As for strategies that are not yet worked out: try those out with friends, that way your strategy will evolve a lot faster since you get valuable input from your opponent and can think of weaknesses/strengts of the particular strategy a lot faster.

Hell, I'd have thought the objection about stats would at least come by now, at least I could understand that to a certain degree if someone doesn't want to spoil his record with "training". But claiming that smurfs are a necessary component and part of the strategy against your opponents? Come on..

nice attempt

PLZ find better analogies, not that much coated and dont write it in content to a replay of my message  where you pick up my "fun" argument then there wont be a mistake.

you equate smurfing with to go out and chop somones head wow iam scarry now but i think thats again a unfortunate analogie ^^ out of relation

And to the points i list, sure i use it lol otherwise i wont write it and there are many more.

1)rekords are not important for me this is the reason why i have many acc like spartan phalanx; ...........<--dot; IIIIIIIIIII, Padme Amidala and Sith and i like to play them all

2) not necessary just a option that is fine for me

At least i wrote my opinion and dont need a personal dispute to waste my time iam out of this thread

Of course my analogies are out of relation when you compare smurfs to the freedom of choice...anyway, since you're just splitting hairs over my use of rhetoric devices instead of argumenting, I'll just leave it at that.

Don't get me wrong, everyone is welcome to correct me, like Darvin did, I can completely understand his point of view and I think we've found a common solution. But aside of that I fail to see how any harm would be done by displaying the main account of a person in the profile.

Tell you what, I'll go on strike. Won't play until this ridiculous system is history. See you in Starcraft 2 otherwise...

Speaking as someone who's been in your shoes......you'll be back.

Sooner or later, given no alternative, I'd agree with you. But since there are a lot of alternatives...we'll see.
