Planet Graphics Problem

the planets dont look like anything in the screenshots!

they look like big Translucnet balls of red for Volcanic, whitish for Artic, Sand coloured for desert and a blueish colour for Terrans?

the landmasses of terrans are patcjes of lighter blue not at all like continents?

A friend of mine had the same problem. Turns out his outdated geforce video card was why,(his was about 7 yrs old). He picked up a newer card for about $40 and it fixed the translucent problem. Now the planets look like they should..

Since you didn't list your pc specs...I'm guessing that may be why you're having that problem.

how do i upload screenshots? ill post them

I had that problem back when i used a Radeon 9250 card. Upgrading to a Radeon 9600 fixed that right up. (And from there i upgraded to a GeForce 9600  )

Yeah, Radeon 9250 cards are known to cause this issue as they're actually 8000 series cards despite the name. Upgrading to any DirectX9 or higher card will solve the issue.

The graphical settings may be turned down, but you should listen to the posts above me.

yes i only really play multiplayer and always have everything set to low but even when its set to high it doesnt work,

upgrade? do you mean download or buy a new one, we recently bought a high end graphics card radeon 9600 i think but it wasnt compatable i havent got enough money to buy a new card

When he says upgrade he means go out and buy a newer card, take out your old one and replace it with the new one. That might be a little too complex for you (no offense) and since that card is so old, you might be better off buying a cheap computer that can play sins. Fact of the matter is, if your PC is really old, then those old parts won't be compatable with new parts :|

So you have to ether buy a new card and install it or get a new computer. Or deal with the one you have :P Sorry man

Um I have the same problem but I wasn't having this problem before the newest SINS update! Any other suggestions other than "replace the video card???"

For more information, I have an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M, with the most recent dell driver updates. The planets are see-through, and all ship models are missing color and are generic grey with normal details. I've messed around with detail levels on all in-game items and this problem has only recently appeared with the new patch.

Any ideas?

its the card, my dad's laptop has a better card and the planets look awesome on it!, the grey/ barely any detail ship thing was the graphics set to low for me, so theres no need for the thread
