chat from lobby to ingame team

A couple of times I've seen people who arent in our game, send a message.  I'm assuming this is from the lobby?  I'm not sure if this is how it works....?  Also, can the person outside the game see our messages back to him?

This is a great function, as it allows someone to find out how long is left in a game that friends are playing, and also to let the team know you mini-dumped or w/e

Is that the way it works?

When I've created games I noticed it changes my chat channel to <game name> from Lobby 1... I suppose if you crashed, logged back into ICO, and changed your channel back to <game name> you might be able to speak to the people still playing.. Never tried.

Gonzo, we actually hear about the same rumor and one of us tried it after a minidump (thankfully those happen quite often so we could test it pretty quick ^_^ ), didn't work. It might work on some occasions, but I'd guess it's pretty rare. Did he maybe use friendlist-chat /f or was he names ICO Server?

Just messing with you, I guess it's a rare bug. Not a feature one could replicate afaik.

we should try the friends list idea.

I have seen this a number of times, and not just from Blair/ICO people (who's chat type is always in red).

Friend-chat would've been blue, unlike the usual ingame-white. So if he wrote in blue it was friend-chat. If it was white...some sort of bug I'd say. Or the AI got a social component added with the last patch ^_^

all you have to do is type /w X  (where X is the name of the person you want to chat with) and then type your message.

In game, you can respond in the same way with someone who is out in the lobby or in a game lobby.  I havent been able to try it from different games, but today while waiting in the lobby, I was able to msg MS and find out how long he had left in a game....he had a while to go, so I just started another game rather than wait for everyone to get out of their games...

Pretty cool!

Oh that's what you mean! Okay, I was thinking along the lines of some weird bug that enabled a player who wasn't in the game anymore to participate in the all-chat there. But yeah, like in most games there's a whisper function and similar to the friend chat it works across games/channels as well. Sorry, could've answered that one earlier and more satisfying, I just got confused I guess ^_^

For those not in the know

Type /f to send to everyone in your friends list that is logged in (i.e. broadcast)

Type /wf and press tab to cycle through your logged in friends and send a whisper to them only(similar to using /w to pick one person out of everyone in a given lobby/game)

learned a new one yesterday from Sire:

type /r to respond to someone who just whispered to you

Yes, you can communicate with people from the lobby from within game and vice versa. This feature was added sometime ago :)
