Multi-star games

I played a couple of multi star games with howthe in the last couple of days.  It really adds something to the standard large maps....very fun and interesting.  I'd like to see more multi star games.

The only downside is that it takes a bit longer for the game....so gotta make sure everyone has 1.5 hours or so to play.  and Vasari have a HUGE advantage with early inter-star travel.

I like multistars too, but the huge random multistar is too beaucoup.  The large random multistar isn't too bad and the one that was added with Entrenchment (Hyperion's Gates I think) isn't too bad.  Of course, there could be custom multistar maps made, but since the game won't auto-download custom maps, it isn't very practical.

(Still hoping they'll enable auto-download for custom maps but I don't think they want to do it for some reason I've never understood.)

I find a lot of random multistar maps boil down to superweapons. Which is kind of eh.. But I do like multistars with small systems like voruks labyrnth and .. i think its ancient gifts. Those are a lot of fun, especially when everyone starts out with wormhole travel.

I agree with RM and Deceiver.

The problem is that multi-star maps are absolutely MASSIVE.  There are no mid or small-sized multi-star maps.  You have to use galaxy forge (or a stock map, but there are only 2 or 3 maps like this) if you want solar systems with fewer than 10 planets each, which is a shame because those are actually very interesting scenarios.

Goes back to the simple issue that we can't transfer maps.  We're stuck with stock maps and randomly generated maps, and that's a bit of an over-limitation.

Yeah Multy-star can be nice. How ever their long. I woudl prefer to ahve a huge miltystar have 13-15 stars but with only 4 to 8 planets around each star.

There are some small-sized multi-star maps!  Agamemnom's Bounty, the 9th small map for 2 players, has only 10 planets and 3 stars, (or 23 'gravity wells', including one hidden system accessible thru a wormhole).

In Dopplegangers, up to four players start in their own solar system, (4 stars) of 8 "planets".

In Systems of War, 4 small systems link to a 5th large, planet rich central galaxy.  Again each player starts alone in their own star system.

Or Foreign Invasion, a balanced map with 2 teams grouped together on their own side, 6 players get only 3 planets each.  Or rush to control an additional small group of 3 hidden planets accessible only thru wormholes from each side of the galaxy.

My personal favorite is Gateway, where 6 players start in one galaxy, with acess to the large "Xi" system thru the planet "Gateway".

Ya, those are all great... but there are not many past those that you mentioned.

Also, very few people like to play multistar maps.. and unfortunatly those that do get off the ground seem to die of people dropping.  (I am so sorry Raging Amish, Adama, Chicken, and that other guy!!! :-(  )

But I love the small anti-rush bit that multi stars get, and the fact that games tend to take a bit longer... more stratigy, less spamz.  (although if you really wanted a anti-rush map... the devs should consider making a map where your enemies are only accessible through wormholes... heh.... or... an auto-download... )

few replies, suggest that not many folks like multi-star games online. Its all about rushing for them.

I personally like small to medium Multi-star games, but few games that i played on such maps, people quit more often, cause 1st hour tends to be simcity style gameplay.

Yeah I'd love sins to have a good custom map community like age of empires II ...

Would be best game ever if they did it.
