a strange glitch

I've had this game a while, but recently I had to reformat my comp due to a virus (I think, not sure preciseley what it was).  anyway, after reinstalling the OS, I updated it to Vista SP1 and then installed Sins.  updated that to v1.16, and suddenly the program has epilepsy.  I mean that any images, including menu buttons, menu framework (visual), and player "avatars" are continually cycling through all related images.  if I hover my mouse over one button, all seem to take on that button's "image", without the text.

in-game, this also happens with planets, menus, etc.  obviously, this doesn't let me play.  any ideas on how to fix this?

p.s. by "epilepsy" I mean that it looks like what you'd expect it to look like if the comp was having a seizure continually(not freezing, just changing pics extremely fast)

Never heard of this before. Did you get the latest and greatest drivers? If you were using older ones before, you can also try going back to those to see if it works. Otherwise, [email protected] :o

as far as I know, yes, I have fairly up-to-date drivers.

(wow!  last time I saw you, annatar, you had just low 300s karma!)

:P One more shot in the dark with a shotgun - try verifying installation in Impulse, or uninstall completely, wipe the folder path, and re-download 1.17.

finally got around to reinstalling the thing, same problem on my Vista computer, without the latest game update.  I tried installing it on a friend's to see if the disk had gone bad somehow, and it works just fine (v1.0).  I think I might need updated drivers... will check.

well, it turned out that the stock graphics driver breaks it. got that updated, and the game works well.  at least the menu, anyway.  don't have time to start up a game.
