No Ships or Planets, Just Icons

I am playing the demo and I can play the game perfectly fine except for not being able to see ships or planets unless I'm zoomed out enough for them to be icons only.  i.e. when I zoom in close to a planet I can't see it, but when I'm zoomed out I can see the planets and stars just fine.  But I can never see the ships, outside the icons.  I wonder if it's just a settings thing or what?

Settings thing

look at top, slight left with pic of camera, select camera pic

move mouse pointer over a ship (caps are coolest) then zoom in

if this fails, reselect camera pic then attempt

Apparently there's some background I'm missing too.  For your info, when I zoom in with cinematic mode turned on, all I see is a black screen because the icons are gone.  When I have cinematic mode off, I can still see the grid and such.  But there's no spacey background or any ships, planets, etc. when I have cinematic mode on, unless I have my mouse over something, and then it's still just the icon.

try pushing "m"

then move your mouse over a ship then zoom in

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420

6.14.10.9371

the last driver for the card is

ForceWare Release 90
Version: 93.71  WHQL
Release Date: November 2, 2006
Operating System: Windows 2000, XP, Media Center Edition
Language: U.S. English
File Size: 40.5 MB

from www.nvidia.com.

I also think that the card might be too old and too small an amount of ram ass from memory the geforce 4  cards had 32mb & 64mb of ram on the cards and sins NEEDS 128mb or more in the video card so I would suggest upgrading to a geforce 5500 w 256mb ram

Thanks!  Basically that means I won't be buying Sins.  Funny enough, I bet because it can't handle the graphics that the frame rate is great and it plays just fine on this machine, besides that one little problem of no graphics.  It's still perfectly playable, just less enjoyable when you can't see anything going on.
