0-byte mesh files causing install problems

I just bought SOASE. During installation I got a series of error messages saying something like "Unable to access file so-and-so. Check if this file is present." I checked the files in question and they are all .mesh files which for some reason show as being of 0-byte size. The first one to show up that way was RefineryShip_Psi.mesh.

Is this a known problem?
