Recording game play, any suggestions?

Howdy all,

First post here and I just wanted to say hi and thanks to Ironclad/Stardock for a truely awesome space game.

I'm trying to record video within the game itself and am having SOME success.

I tried fraps, but the video only ends up being corrupted, when I pass it through Virtualdub, it says the index is corrupt and even if I strip the audio and recompress it, it's majorly out of sync

So I tried the freebie WeGame, which is supposed to support Sins, but it doesn't detect the game when running (D'oh!)

So now I'm trying Camtasia, which I seem to be having better success at, except the interface flashes when playing it back, not to mention it stutters a fair bit

Not exaclty sure what the ideal recording codec should be, any suggestions?
