Need some User Interface Help

I was watching videos on youtube, and some players had their user interface smaller than mine, and it drives me nuts.

 

I hate the standard UI, it covers the entire bottom and entire top of my screen, and I cant even get it to leave in cinemactic mode when by all common sense it should.

So my question then is, how do I minimize the user interface and make it smaller? Is it a mod?

They probably changed the resolution. Higher resolutions change allow you too see more but do not increase the size of the UI.

press Ctrl + Shift + Z will remove the UI, even in cinematic mode, and normal mode to minize the UI, it won't show the bottom bar nor will show the empire, nor the top bar also

Well ok, CTRL+SHFT+Z works for cinemactics, like I like that for making movies, but what about minimizing the UI?

I have the video settings to the maximum resolution and its still not in the center of the screen which bugs me greatly.

nvm nvm nvm fixed it

I thought the max resolution was at the bottom, but it was at the top of the resolution list

I fail my bad

Everything is awesome now

As said by Myles, a larger resolution will make the UI look smaller.  You can also eliminate some of it through modding.  LazySumo had a minimalistic UI mod waaaay back when, but it's a little out of date now.  I might try to upload my version of his mod at some point (since it's updated for Entrenchment v1.03), but I've yet to ever upload anything.

Of course, I'm at work right now, so don't expect it immediately.
