FPS Issues

Shouldn't be the case..

Hey guys.  Just bought this game today, and it looks awesome.  I've installed the game and patched it up to the latest update.  When I began to play the first tutorial (seeing as how i'm a noob), I saw that the game was running slowly.  Figuring it was the pacing of the game, I went on.  I then opened my Xfire, and saw that I was getting 15 FPS on lowest everything.   With my specs that should NOT be the case at all.

SPECS:

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.00 GHz

nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 512mb

2GB RAM

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

Yet I noticed that when I press Ctrl + Shift + Z my FPS shoots up straight to 60, but disables the UI completely, and I can't play without that.  So, is there a fix for this?  I know it's not my computer considering I play much more graphically intense games with 60 FPS.  Any help would be appreciated! =)

What I would recommend is giving your RAM a little upgrade. I have a Toshiba Satellite A215, 1.8 GHz dual-core, ATI Radeon Graphics card, Vista OS Home Premium SP2, and 4 GB RAM. With Entrenchment, when I first start there is sometimes what I call a mini-lockup, that is the screen freezes for about 2/3 seconds, but the game is still responsive. It'll do that 1-3 times after I start/load a game, but that's it. I also tend to lag a little when zoomed in with a LOT of particle effects.

Overall, your Processor is GTG, I'd say your video card is excellent, OS is fine, RAM might need a little polish.

If the UI is causing slowdown, look into updating your video drivers.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions guys, will try updating my drivers when I get home.  I don't believe my RAM is an issue though,  as playing new large RTS's aren't a problem at all..

8600 GT.  Any recommended drivers to tryout?  I know there are multiple, multiple releases.

For sure it should run, But you gotta choose the right options under effects/User interface.

I have noticed enabling some of the UserInterface will make the game run Extremely smoother. and Some should be disabled such as Astroids/Dust clouds/bloom/Debris. They reduce FPS greatly.

And offcourse full screen runs better than windowed.

Edit : Oops you seem to be fine with the graphic part. My mistake.

You can go to your driver, and click update, search online for updates, and then it should automatically do itfor you.
