Windows 7 compatibliity

I like this game very much, and I am wondering about compatibility issues with the upcomming Windows OS. In my service plan with Best Buy, I can get it upgraded for free to the new OS. However, if it will prevent this game from working I would rather not upgrade. I know that newer versions of windows have compatibility modes to run programs meant for older operating systems, however Vista failed at being compatible for C&C The First Decade, and this OS also being made by Microsoft doesn't inspire much confidence. So, would Sins Of A Solar Empire be compatible with Windows 7?

With respect to C&C the first decade, I curretnly run it on my Vista machine with no problems. This isn't immediately relevant to your threads intent, but just thought I would thow that out there.

I've had very little trouble with SoaSE on either of my Win7RC systems (64 and 32 bit).  I'm guessing they'll (SD/IC) do a fix or two, if necessary, once the OS is officially released.

On a side note, I enjoy Windows 7 very much.  It's nice.

I do want to warn you of the inherit compatibility issue on Windows 7 64-bit.

There's no real pattern to determine if you will have the same issue. The only way to find out is to try it.

This would be the month that I could have Best Buy update my computer to Windows 7, I'm not sure I want to though... especially with that I'd be updating to the 64-bit because my Vista is 64-bit.

Personally, I'd wait a few months.  Especially after all of the problems Vista had with its drivers.  I hear things will be different with 7 this time around, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Sins ran just fine on W7 for me.  Slight improvement over Vista on larger maps w/tons of AI/ships/etc.
