cant edit gameinfo files

I just reinstalled the game and unlike when I bought the game. I am unable to alter the gameinfo files to change the ships stats or reserach etc... I downloaded the forge and tried to use those files since it let me alter them but it wont run with the game. Any Ideas?

first make a COPY of the sins/entrenchment folders in another path possibly on another drive, then download, extract & run either my sins txtbin gui or my modding utilities v1.1

the files in the forge tools are from 2 versions ago, and with my utilities you can get a copy of the current files.

if you are modding entrenchment you only NEED the files you want to change in the mods-entrenchment v1.03 mod folder, but for vanilla sins you still need ALL the files in the mods-V1.17 mod folder

entrenchment is the new expansion correct? If so I dont have that... I just installed the game and updated to vs 1.05.

wow 1.05, get impulse, register your game and then update to 1.17 play it for a while and then buy entrenchment.

look thru the files using a converter and create some mod for yourself to see what does what and then jump right in.

ok thanks got impulse and updated to the 1.17, but what converter to use to edit the gameinfo files?
