To Ironclad: Question concerning slowdowns

My friend, and many other players have had this issue where the game starts slowing down and performance degrades past a certain point in the game. This problem happens on both older and newer computer, no matter their specifications. The issue seems to have appeared after Entrenchment. We are still unsure whether it happenned after the expansion or a following patch. The problem, though, is very real and multiple people are unable to enjoy this nice game. There used to be a few threads about this, but they have all become inactive and forgotten, the issue seemingly ignored. Last I know, someone from Ironclad said they were looking into it, but were not able to reproduce the bug. I would like to know if any progress has been made towards finding a solution. If none could be made, my friend and I would gladly volunteer to run whatever tests Ironclad deems helpful in figuring out the cause of the slowdowns.

Edit: I am currently in contact with a member of Ironclad Games' technical support and will post any update related to this issue in this thread if anyone is interested.

One reason surely is, that the game only uses a single core, although advertised as multicore.

My machine is pretty much idle except that one core.

If there's any way to help, I'd gladly do so...but the guys didn't even respond to my first bug reports, and I've got quite some more.

Really, if there's not going to happen anything to the problem, I'll have to return the game to the store for false advertising it. I've got a performance rating of 5.9 on my machine, but sometimes it slows down to 1 frame per 5 seconds...

I've also stored several of these extreme slow games...so if there were a way to analyze it, I'd gladly do it. I'd prefer the game issues to be solved instead of getting rid of this game. I've even got quite some time, as I was working in software development myself until burnout ;)

Hi again,

can you report any progress on that matter?

I myself have toyed around a bit...and am VERY sure now, that most of the slowdown comes from the big guns like deliverance engine. Might still be coincidence...the game was slowing down, but only after building 6 of these guns at once it immediately was very slow...and that over multiple games.

Another interesting point is that the game still does max out one of my cores when it's paused and after alt-tabbing away from it's screen, thus it neither did have anything to calculate nor to display, but the CPU load did not change!

The game does use multiple cores, just not as efficiently or heavily as desired.  The primary use is for texture loading, which doesn't happen constantly.

That said, another cause of slowdowns (a major one) is large amounts of civilian traffic (i. e. lots of trade centers).
