Playing a hired SoaSE online?

I've recently rented 'Sins of a Solar Empire' and wish to play it's great online multiplayer mode. However, I've found it the case a sticker that says: 'rental copy, do not take online or this copy will be made unplayable'. How does this work? Will it really make the game unplayable? Will it affect the disc, my installation, the product key or nothing?

Please reply soon, I'ld like to play a game before I need to return it. Thanks very much

Does that mean no-one else who hires it in the future can create an account with that serial?

What shop did you rent it from, and what location?

I've never heard of a PC game rental before since every PC game has some sort of copy protection built-in.  I'm guessing that the original poster lives in China or some such.

PC Game rentals was around about 15 years ago but not around the states anymore.

i would do three things.

1.  tell kyro who and where the shop was

2.  go get your rental money back

3.  download the SINS demo to try it out

and after all that, buy direct from Impuse!

I've decided I'll just take it back and purchase it from Impuse.
