Iv atempted to make 3 seperet fleets at once with caps as leaders , didnt work out because the fleet followed 1 cap around instead of dividing up like I want em to.
Fleets are a little bit weird in this way. I personally don't ues fleets so I don't have to manage them. The best way when you want to split a fleet is to break up the fleet, then create three new fleets from scratch.
Breaking up into multiple groups is a great idea, but remember to retreat to your defenses if you come up against a single big fleet. The upside is that while one of your forces is falling back to defend, the other is assaulting the enemy from another direction.
(i almost always go with TEC) I favor the percheron light carrier and i build a butt load of them, i always go with bombers squads every time, If i play a big map there's bout a 100 bombers
Bombers are really strong for hit and run, but you'll get ripped to shreds by a force of balanced flak and fighters. Beware the Kortul, Kol, and Halcyon (especially Halcyon) capital ships, as they can devastate massive forces of strike craft.
With carriers on big maps, I can have as many as five or six groups (often without capital ships leading them) running around causing havoc.
now should i send just those light carriers to a planet for 1 MIN then retreat them to the rest of my fleet then send the entire fleet back to the same planet a min later or what.
Use a magical unit called the scout to find out where your opponent is (flaks, light frigates, or any other cheap unit can also be used if a scout isn't available). Know where and when he's going to counter-attack before it happens, and find out where his defenses are weakest and strike there.
any other good tips or strats with other ships beside light carriers would be nice too.
Hoshikos, LRM, and flak give you the best early game army when it comes to brute force. It offers the best balance of offensive firepower, defensive capabilities, and cost to assemble. Carriers are extremely powerful, but as their strike craft are killed they fizzle out mid-battle. A force of LRM's and flaks, backed up by hoshikos, will last much longer in a battle of attrition.
