do bombers dominate fighters?

 Okay, I usually go with the TEC faction, and I like carriers. I recently played a 100 planet game and won. i had about 100 bombers because I  like bombers.  Well, to me it seems that my bombers did ALOT of the fighting and  realy helped wipe out the other factions. if I were to build nothing but bombers, would that almost  work every time? By the way I was playing all AI if that makes a differance.

no if there are enough fighter, usually about 60, these will clean the floor of a 100 bombers

but yes I usually go all bombers against an AI, they usually do half and half and are rarely able to muster enough fighters to cause any serious damage to bombers, plus throw in some flak and you are good

but dont try this against a human opponent

Well it depends. Bombers do very good damage against capital ships, heavy cruisers, and planetary structures including starbases. However, they will be decimated by enemy fighters, and can be destroyed by flak frigates and possibly by capital ships with anti strike craft abilities (like the Kol). Also the said fighters do more damage against lightly armored frigates like light frigates, LRMs, and colony and support cruisers. Sense most games contain more of the latter group, fighters are generally prefered in online play (though not as much as they once were do to starbases), but it all just depends what your enemy fleet composition is.

Huge swarms of bombers are absolutely deadly! Certainly given some time fighters will chew them up, but the bombers could do some serious damage before then. The biggest danger to your bombers is probably the Kol, Kortul, and Halcyon capital ships. These capital ships have special abilities that disable or destroy strike craft, which will either buy the time for fighters to destroy your bombers or else speed up the process (or both in the case of the deadly Halcyon carrier). Against the AI, however, you probably wouldn't have troubles. Early on I'd stay with mostly fighters and only convert over to mostly bombers once I had critical mass. If you can't quickly kill enemy ships, fighters will reduce your bombers' potency quite quickly.

Yep bombers are good. Bomber fleets with flak especialy as vasari are a fleet that can work in multiplayer too. Done it some times and have seen it used. Vasari bombers are just too though for the Kol to just flak burst especialy if their upgraded. Ofcourse everything has it's counter and the halycon or two so you can keep it up with AM (I don't play advent allot so I wouldn't know if one could keep up with cooldown/AM) will rape bomber fleets.

Giant bomber fleets are one of the most vicious things imaginable.  Once, just for the heck of it, I amassed a fleet of 50 Aeria's loaded with full bombers.  I threw in some flak for defense and set it on a roaming mission to devastate his planets.  Every thing he sent at them died until he created his own super-fleet of fighters which killed all my bombers, so I was forced to retreat but I did manage to save most of the Aerias and captured a few planets during that time.

Fighters are the only thing bombers can't target, but given a large enough group of bombers, they'll chew up everything else in sight until your opponent musters anti-SC capitals, flak, or an equally large group of fighters.

If you're Advent, a Rapture can increase the potency of your SC by 10%/20%/30% with Concentration Aura (the buff applies to the SC whose host is within range of the ability), so they'll eat capital ships/HCs/structures even faster.

50 aria drone hosts full of bombers should deal with a huge number of enemy drone hosts before they can even kill the bombers... or that's what I would think. In addition to that you say you had flak which should rape enemy fighters.

No, they aren't. The MOST vicious thing is a hacking player who has 50 battleships, 100 heavy carriers, and 150 each of the other cap ships, 1000 each of every cruiser, and 2500 each of eery frigate except colony frig.

Bombers used to be fairly useless, Danza. That has changed with expansions/patches though, and now they are pretty good. I'm actually more curious to know how well all mines fair against all bombers for the advent. Anyone know?
