Disabling abilities on Capital Ships

From what I've seen so far with these abilties (Ion Bolt, and the like), it's a great ability. However, when I'm making a runb for the cap ships life, is there a way to make the stupid %&#$@*& capital start to run for the edge of the gravity well AFTER it's been disabled. i.e. The disabling ability has worn off.

Have any of you found out that after a capital has been hit with this, they'll start to attack whatever is nearest to them? This isn't my problem however, due to the fact that if it's sitting there unable to move, sure, attack. However, after the ability wears off, it STAYS THERE! Which infuriates me to no degree!

So basically I have to micro-manage the stupid capitals, wasting time that could be spend elsewhere managing something else so I could have a CHANCE to save it.

Anyone else out there get annoyed by this?

so you want actions to que whilst its disabled?

That would be preferable. Or just take up the last ordered action while it was disabled. I've lost more capitals because I go back to figure out why it hasn't jumped yet, thinking they probably disabled it to find it just sitting there in the middle of 30~ ships and it's fighting back instead of running like I told it to in the first place.

I gotta agree with this as well. Should continue previous orders.

Units "forgetting" their orders is pretty annoying and happens under far too many circumstances.  The most annoying situation is when you give a move order to another gravity well, but for some reason the computer decides that your order was to follow some random unit in the target gravity well.

Yup. Or you're retreating your damaged cap, and it decides it needs to kill something in the current gravity well instead.

I agree with the OP. Queued orders should stay.

If it is not possible (for some coding reasons), I believe at least the "Retreat" order should be persistent.
I mean, if you order a cap to "Retreat", it should do just that no matter how many times it's hit and with what. That would solve the issue partially.

I've noticed that sort of thing happening alot of times but not only cap ships.  I've resorted to staying in the gravity well until every ship has jumped.  I've also noticed my groups taking side routes.

Same here Elonin. Problem is, with the huge SCALE of this game wasting time micro'ing your ships is time that could be spent elsewhere. Attacking on another front, managing your economy, etc. And I dislike having to manage my forces cause they're too stupid to realize when to run, especially after I told them to in the first place.

Not sure how much this helps, but I've found that turning off the auto attack option for those ships moving is helpful for this.
