Just bought Sins GOTY Edition - cannot research after building

Hello,

 

 

I just purchased and loaded Sins this morning. I completed all 4 tutorials, and started my first campaign on a small map. When I build my military lab, I get no options to allow me to research. It completes construction, but I never get the research options.... which, is a problem. This goes for all races, as I have tried each with the same results. The buildings, both the military/civilian research facilities, complete, then no options are available inthe menu.

 

Is this something I am overlooking? I realize this may be something noobish that is in a sticky somewhere, my apologies up front, but I really want to get this game to work on my day off!

It's most likely that you don't have the resources for research. Try waiting a bit until you get the cost amount needed.

You're clicking on the research menu on the top of the game, right?

First,  build a lab.
To do any research, you need to press F2 (quite obvious, but I suppose I should mention).

When, for example, five labs are completed, the background behind first five rows of research options is highlighted.
(if it's not, you're either looking on the wrong research tree or you've build a wrong structure or the structure is offline (planet lost, phasic barrier active etc..)).

When you have enough resources to conduct a research, the research button will get highlighted.
