On the Impulse page for Diplomacy, it says its the "final expansion" for Sins.
I thought there was going to be 3 expansions? Did they abandon one?
Sorry if this has already been covered, I've been on vacation and not able to keep up with the forums (and a search didn't turn much up).
Yes, Diplomacy is going to be the last micro expansion. They've said Sins isn't over after it, but they did scrap the 3rd micro.
did you guys run out of ideas and had to concolidate what was planned for the 3rd micro into the Full expansion thats set to follow it?
I think they realized that...the game will be 2 years old when diplomacy comes out... which means prolly another year for the last... which, when compared to other companies... most games were done with the expansion packs by the end of year one (unless there is a stupid number of them, like in the sims), and were finishing up the sequel by year 3. (cept starcraft, but they are "special")
I mean... january 2011: the expansion to the 2008 game of the year comes out... just doesnt quite work that way i think.
but, someone said that the devs mentioned a sequel in one of the forums, dont remember which. maybe thats going to be next
Why is there another expansion so soon, and is this expansion really necessary? I mean come on.
what do you mean, so soon? it'll be a year by the time it comes out! and what the hell is wrong with this expasion. if their previous work is any barometer, it will be awesome!

Frogboy did mention new game modes for Diplomacy in his latest journal he managed to sneak in while the PR people were looking the other way 
game "modes" hmmm.... wonder what that means? If it is anything like Shadow and EvilTesla's modes, then maybe it will mean games with different objectives? Maybe "several" different ways to play the game, instead of just one.

Command & Conquer is running over a decade with 4 releases. Why can't Sins have 3?
They really need another expansion, perhaps a large one, to complete the story behind the mystery aliens pursueing the Vasari.
I've always thought it was odd that you get this intro video about a mysterious race chasing the Vasari, but that's it, you don't see or hear anything else about it.
The reason behind that is because they dont want people focusing on the "unknown enemy" way too much. They want you to embrace the three already developed races. That way when the fourth one comes along its a shock to the system and not another mundane add on that has become the norm with WoW.
It does suggest that they will resolve it at some point and arnt just trying to get us to forget about it because that would be a major cliff hanger
